Job Brief

Graymont is hiring an EPC Manager to support all capital expenditures across Graymont providing EPC and project management support. This position will also act as Project Manager on projects over the entire lifespan of projects.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Project Engineering department is responsible for supporting all capital expenditure projects across Graymont, providing engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and, for most typical projects, project management. Reporting to and under the general supervision of the Director of Project Engineering, this position is the EPC Lead (engineering, procurement and construction) on multiple capital projects at any given time. This person must be able to work effectively on cross functional teams to execute EPC within agreed EPC schedules and budgets.

This position will also act as Project Manager on projects and as such, be responsible for all aspects of the project over the entire lifespan (initiate, plan, execute, monitor & control, close). The EPC Project Manager Responsible for identifying appropriate resources needed, assembling project teams, assigning individual responsibilities, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of projects to meet business needs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promote safety as the #1 priority on projects and throughout the organization
  • Support Project Owners in the management of projects in the Western region, ensuring quality results and value are delivered thru consultants, contractors and suppliers and that project objectives are achieved.
  • Support Project Managers in the development, engineering, procurement and construction of major projects. Ensuring quality results and value are delivered thru consultants, contractors and suppliers and that project objectives are achieved.
  • Support in the development of project schedules and detailed estimates
  • Lead and direct internal and/or external engineering resources, in coordination with other Graymont resources, to develop and refine high value plant and equipment layouts and designs
  • Prepare equipment bid packages
  • Prepare general construction contractor or multiple construction contractor bid packages
  • Vet equipment and contractor bids and make recommendations
  • Oversee procurement and construction
  • Coordinate construction with existing operations
  • Coordinate health and safety and environmental requirements with engineering and construction contractors
  • Oversee QA inspection on all equipment, materials and construction
  • Monitor construction progress and support progress reporting
  • Manage risks and issues, mitigating threats and optimizing opportunities, on assigned projects
  • Support project commissioning and handover to operations
  • Responsible for meeting project EPC schedules and budgets
  • Responsible for ensuring all engineering, procurement and construction is done in conformance with Graymont standards and specifications.
  • Work with plants to develop and promote ideas through options analysis into project planning and approval.
  • Support the Director of Project Engineering in developing and communicating EPC best practices throughout the Organization.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the One Graymont culture.
  • Frequent travel required, up to 50%

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining a safe work culture.
  • Proven teambuilding, communication and leadership skills.
  • Proactive and self-directed
  • Results focused and team oriented
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and verbal

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management and in management of technical teams.
  • Construction management experience is an asset.
  • Outstanding communication skills with ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively.
  • Possess a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals.
  • Basic financial management skills (estimating, budgets, and cost control).
  • PMP Certification is an asset.
  • 5+ years of experience in the mining industry oriented in project management.
