The Public Works Department is seeking motivated professionals interested in joining our progressive engineering and project management team. An applicant may be hired at an Engineer II, III or IV position, depending on qualifications and experience.

Located in Port Townsend, the Engineer applies professional and technical expertise to deliver capital projects including wastewater facilities, roads, trails, bridges and stormwater infrastructure. Duties include development of plans, specifications, and estimates, legal and technical research, consultant and grant management, and construction management and inspection. A working knowledge of federal, state and county policies and regulations is highly desirable.

ENGINEER OPPORTUNITY

Qualifications/Requirements:

ENGINEER II

Performs engineering work on civil engineering projects related to wastewater, roads, transportation, traffic, solid waste and parks facilities. Duties may include tasks such as plan preparation, consultant management, plan review, and construction inspection.

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with 2 years engineering experience and EIT certification or qualified to take the test. EIT Certificate preferred. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay range: $31.50/hr - $39.34/hr, DOE. Additional generous benefit package provided (medical, dental, vision, holidays, vacation, sick leave, retirement).

ENGINEER III

Works on all aspects of complex civil engineering related to wastewater, roads, transportation, traffic, solid waste, and parks facilities. Responsible for several major projects at one time.

Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering with 4 years progressively more responsible civil or traffic engineering experience. Registration as PE in WA State desirable. Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay range: $35.60/hr – $44.46/hr, DOE. Additional generous benefit package provided (medical, dental, vision, holidays, vacation, sick leave, retirement).

ENGINEER IV

Performs advanced professional engineering in design and construction related to wastewater, roads, transportation, and solid waste and parks facilities. Acts as resource to staff engineers and technicians on complex projects.

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and seven years progressively more responsible civil or traffic engineering experience. Registration as P.E. in WA State, or registered as a P.E. in another state with the ability to obtain WA State registration within six months required.

Pay range $37.38/hr – $46.69/hr, DOE. Additional generous benefit package provided (medical, dental, vision, holidays, vacation, sick leave, retirement).

Work Week

The work week is Monday – Friday

The typical work day is 8:00am – 5:00pm
