Job description
- Supervises and assists in the performance of maintenance and preventive maintenance of electrical fire alarms, CCTV, electronic security, PA, intercom and high voltage distribution systems, emergency generators and equipment.
- Plans electrical work including repairs to high voltage equipment and systems.
- Reads blueprints and wiring diagrams and makes take-offs.
- Requisitions materials and parts needed.
- Ensures completion of installation/repairs.
- Makes emergency repairs to electrical system and equipment.
- Performs on-the-job training of inmates.
- Requires cross-training in other areas of the maintenance field to include: HVAC, plumbing, general maintenance, wastewater treatment and water distribution.

A high school diploma and experience in construction or repair of secondary electrical systems. Relevant experience may be substituted for the required diploma on a year-for-year basis.
SCDC Minimum Requirements: (Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources)
An Associate's degree in electrical/electronic systems;- One (1) year extensive working knowledge of the principles and techniques of electrical/electronic systems, including high and low voltage, wiring, security systems, CCTV, fire alarms, etc.;
- A High School diploma;
- Three (3) years extensive working knowledge of the principles and techniques of electrical/electronic systems, including high and low voltage, wiring, security systems, CCTV, fire alarm, etc.
