Job Description


SUMMARY
: Our standard and custom high-speed automated packaging equipment enables our customers to excel in highly competitive food and pharmaceutical industries. The Electro-Mechanical Technician is an integral role in Syntegon’s success in leading the world’s packaging machinery market.

The Technician is responsible for building, commissioning, testing and presenting our machines and systems on specific customer applications, using our Engineer to Order documentation, drawings and schematics as well as other relevant project information. This is a fast pace, dynamic and team centric work environment that requires self-motivation and independence paired with empowerment to be impactful for the organization and to meet our customer’s high expectations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Efficiently building and modifying mechanical assemblies per the bill of material and assembly drawings while using hand and power tools
  • Efficiently wiring machines, panels and control circuitry (up to 575 Volts), adding electrical components based on project layouts and wiring diagrams (per NFPA 79)
  • Positioning and leveling system equipment, integrating and interfacing 3rd party functionalities into the packaging lines
  • Up/down loading software, flashing Firmware, performing I/O checks
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving live power and control circuitry issues
  • Setting up parameters and recipes, testing and debugging the equipment and application while adjusting assemblies and editing software code
  • Conducting a successful customer factory acceptance test while demonstrating and training customers on equipment operations and equipment functionality
  • Observing all safety regulations, making sure of wearing and using proper protective wear and tools, informing supervisor of any safety issues or hazards
  • Learn product usage and application through system testing
  • Travel up to 10% of the time

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Lift up to 30 lbs. (above 30 lbs. with assistance) and work in any position for an extended period of time.
  • Work with moving parts and mechanical hazards, and from elevated heights
  • Use arms, hands, and fingers repetitively


Qualifications


Basic Qualifications:

  • Must possess a minimum 2+ year vocational degree in an engineering, electrical or mechanical discipline
  • Must have a minimum of 3+ years of experience working with and building automated electrical/mechanical manufacturing machinery or packaging equipment
  • Must have at least 1+ years of work or academic experience in reading and interpreting blueprints and wire diagrams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree preferred in Packaging, Automation, or Mechatronics
  • Passionate and self-motivated
  • Self-organized and priority task oriented, including maintaining a 6S work environment
  • Able to work efficiently in order to meet project and department objectives while utilizing best practice methods
  • Able to continuously improve and problem solve the working processes and work environment
  • Team oriented with excellent communication skills, fostering team work and building a customer relationship
  • Experience in building capital equipment including industrial motion controls systems (e.g. Rockwell Automation, Beckhoff Automation, Software & Hardware
  • PC literate with working knowledge of Window Office
