Maintenance Electrician Lead - ALL SHIFTS

Starting Rate $30.60 / $2,000 sign-on bonus / $1.00 hour Shift Premium for 2nd and 3rd Shifts

SUMMARY:
Plan layout, install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment.

POSITION OBJECTIVES:
  • Coordinate and supervise the duties of employees.
  • Help to train and motivate employees in their work standards, while at the same time taking disciplinary action according to the plant rules and regulations.
  • Must be able and willing to follow directions as issued by supervisor.
  • Must be responsible and self-motivated.
  • Must be honest and trustworthy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensure that all supplies are on hand for scheduled work and assign employee to their work stations.
  • Assist in setting crew levels to promote efficient operations and train /maintaining a competent crew.
  • Recommend methods to improve efficiencies.
  • Responsible for all safety issues, including accident reports.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Plan or modify installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance and avoid unsightly, hazardous and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
  • Prepare sketches showing location of wiring equipment.
  • Bend and install conduit according to electrical codes and pull wire as required.
  • Follow diagrams and/or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring.
  • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduit.
  • Splice wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twist or solder wires together and apply tape or terminal caps.
  • Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
  • Install, control and distribute apparatuses such as switches, relays and circuit-breaker panels.
  • Connect power cables to equipment, such as electric or motor, and install grounding leads.
  • Test continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments, such as multi meter for ohms, volts, amps and oscilloscope.
  • Observe functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement.
  • Repair faulty equipment or systems.
  • Practice good housekeeping, including clean up at end of shift.
  • Follow and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.’s) and company policies at all times; must be familiar with G.M.P. requirements and the employee handbook.
  • Verbally communicate instructions, problems, etc. to co-workers, supervisors and employees from all departments.
  • Meet Company attendance standards of start and end time for work as scheduled.
  • Comply with all safety, health and environmental regulations as prescribed by law.
  • May perform other functions as assigned.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
Carry out Lead Electrician responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies. Responsibilities include training new employees, assigning and directing of work, appraising performance of employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to work in a fast paced environment, while at the same time making sound decisions.
  • Handle daily employee problems.
  • Reaching with hands/arms throughout shift.
  • Ability to see, hear, and talk.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in light to moderate noise levels; hearing protection may be required.
  • Walk up to 400 yards to work and break areas.
  • Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Repetitive reaching over head, under and across throughout shift.
  • Push/pull items up to 2600 lbs. with assistance.
  • May crawl under equipment to reach work area.
  • Perform general housekeeping, including sweeping, mopping, etc.
  • May climb steps to and from work and break areas.
  • Good hand/eye coordination and manual dexterity for repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment in close proximity to others.
  • Ability to distinguish colors.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in various units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to work in variable temperatures and weather conditions.
  • Repetitive bending, stooping, and twisting throughout shift.
  • Ability to work in wet, humid areas.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, electrical schematics, and ladder logic.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to work well with others in stressful situations and met deadlines as necessary.
  • Regular exposure to risks such as electrical shock and radiation.
  • Occasionally exposed to toxic and/or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne chemicals and vibration.
  • Frequently works near moving mechanical parts.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Handle daily employee issues.
