The nationally renowned Minnesota Veterans Home - Minneapolis has an opening for an Electrician. As part of MDVA's team, this position will ensure the proper installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical systems and equipment at our 53-acre campus, which is nestled on the edge of Minnehaha Creek Park.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid Journeyworker A Electrician license registered with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems such as motors, lighting, UPS, transformers, switchgear, electrical schematic drawings, and HVAC electrical systems.
  • Skill in using electrical instruments, and hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience repairing refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
  • Experience with phone and/or nurse call systems.
  • Experience with CCTV video monitoring systems.
  • Experience using building automation systems.
  • Experience with fire suppression, fire detection, fire dampers and fire doors.
  • Computer skills such as Word, Excel, Outlook and AutoCAD.
  • Master A Electrician license registered with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry.

Additional Requirements

This position also requires successful completion of the following:

  • A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check will be conducted on finalists for this position. Finalists must pass the DHS background check.
  • A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x-ray) is required prior to employment.
