This position is an anticipated vacancy. It is expected to be vacant by 08/27/2022. However, the current incumbent has a right to rescind their retirement, leave, or resignation up until the day of the expected vacancy date. Your hire will not be confirmed until the position is vacated, and you may start the year as a Long-Term Substitute if the position does not become vacant by the start of the school year.


Position Overview:

Responsible for planning and implementing a career development and internship program designed to assist students, parents and staff in the New Mission High School Early College Program and to serve as the primary liaison between New Mission High School Early College Program, university partners, the business community, and school staff.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and develops a school-based career development program which provides direct services to students, staff, parents, and the community in relation to Early College Program pathways
  • Finding and creating internship opportunities for students related to Early College Pathways
  • Acts as a liaison between Early College Pathway students, community businesses and University partners
  • Supervises Early College Pathway students during their internships
  • Develops and maintains a career resource center for students
  • Provides individual and group advisement to assist students in the career and academic exploration and career decision-making process related to Early College Pathways
  • Provides developmentally appropriate career and academic advisement guidance activities for early College students to include: career decision-making/planning, economic awareness/exploration, employability skills, career mentoring experience
  • Assist in the communication of Career Pathways information, including current articulation agreements
  • Gathers and disseminates current reliable career and employment information relevant to the federal, state, and local level
  • Coordinates with the Early College Director to help develop all early college activities and advisory committee activities
  • Conducts internship classroom presentations
  • Promote the school’s Early College Pathways with all school staff
  • Provides additional services as required by the Head of School or Director of Early College and Career Pathways


Qualifications-Required:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education or career development related field
  • Minimum of three years of experience in career development and/or partnership coordination.
  • Demonstrated experience working with a diverse population or community and strong cross-cultural skills.
  • Ability to work with youth and deliver services in an individual, small group, and large group setting
  • Strong skills in presentation, designing, planning, implementing, and monitoring projects/programs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to use technology platforms for data analysis, scheduling, and communications .
  • Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment


Qualifications- Preferred:


  • Hold a Masters degree in Education or related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in the field of education, career advising , or related field in a school setting
  • Minimum of two years of experience supervising students in career related activities


  • Minimum of two years of experience with career counseling, internship placement, and early college, dual enrollment, or related programs preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience working with employers for creation of internship experiences preferred
  • Basic proficiency in online communication tools—such as website content management systems, social-media platforms, and/or email-newsletter systemsBasic proficiency in graphic-design applications such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Basic proficiency in digital photography, videography, and/or photo and video editing


Terms:
Managerial Tier C. This position is subject to the City of Boston residency requirement.


NOTE: School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or head of school of the school. School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather, school-based managerial employees need not report to work.
