Delivery Driver/Warehouse Worker
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide customers with extraordinary service, “Service Plus…+” at all times
- Assemble, pack and ship customer orders
- Load and unload delivery trucks
- Deliver customer orders to customer shops, job sites, etc. and unload orders according to customer specifications
- Verify delivered items with shipping papers and obtain customer signature
- Safely and courteously operate delivery vehicle accordingly in compliance with local, state and federal laws
- Inspect and maintain delivery vehicle in accordance with company policy and report any problems or concerns to Manager
- Receive and account for incoming inventory
- Sort and place inventory on or in racks, shelves, or bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, or product code
- Record amounts of inventory received and shipped
- Use computer to enter records
- Safely operate a lift truck according to OSHA Regulations
- Maintain warehouse appearance by sweeping and removing trash daily
- Maintain yard appearance by removing pallet boards, straps and trash daily
- Assist at Will Call Counter as needed
- Any additional functions assigned by local Branch Manager or Supervisor
NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Under general direction, assist in any special projects
Perform other duties and assignments as designated by Branch Manager or Supervisor
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience pertaining to the functions outlined above and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of industrial pipe, valves, fittings, and flanges preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
A current Class C driver’s license and a driving record that contains less than 5 points for violations according to Southern Pipe’s insurance guidelines. Must be capable of being certified to operate lift truck/fork lift. Must have, or able to obtain, a TWIC.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position requires the ability to frequently stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and have near and far vision. Incumbent must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position is occasionally exposed to moving machinery. It is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and cold/hot temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
