Director of Operations and School Climate


Oversees key elements of the school's operational activities and is responsible for all matters of school, family & community engagement. The Director of Operations and School Climate will handle key non-instructional obligations so that the school leader can focus on student achievement. The Director of Operations and School Climate will report to the School Principal and work closely with the school leader on all school functions including organizing operational activities, safety procedures, restorative justice practices, and school-wide PBIS with data-driven results. The DDirector of Operations and School Climate will oversee all procedures for school external communications. In addition, The Director of Operations and School Climate may supervise, manage and evaluate key members of the school-based staff in non-instructional positions.


Partnership Program Development and Coordination

  • Evaluate the partnership model and present current effectiveness and impact to school leadership.
  • Develop a new partnership model for the Henderson K-12 Inclusion School community with identified priorities around impact for the local community.
  • Identify new partnerships as well as maintain current, impactful partnerships, with a continued focus on maximizing resources.
  • Work closely with community organizations to ensure that students have access to all supports (academic, social-emotional, health and wellness, enrichment) they need to be successful.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with key community partners.
  • Design and implement structures to identify and recruit community partners to support students.

Family and Community Engagement

  • Coordinate and plan School Site Council meetings including logistics, programming, and follow-up.
  • Monitor and develop content for family and community stakeholders and develop sharing system across multiple mediums (website, social media, telephone blasts, backpacked materials, etc).
  • Lead recognition assemblies, parent workshops, family and community service events, and other school-wide culture-building activities.
  • Partner with parents and families to build an authentic school-wide community.

School Culture & Operations Support

  • Supports all preparations on campus for the school year by supporting, organizing, and ensuring everything from ordering furniture, equipment, and classroom supplies to school services (i.e. student food services, student transportation services) are prepared, lined up, and ready for action.
  • Oversee and supervise established processes for the school’s supply and asset inventory.
    Work collaboratively with other school leadership members to ensure effective communications with staff, parents, and the community.
  • Drive the creation and maintenance of school operational systems that support high-quality instruction and family engagement.
  • Ensure alignment between the QSP and the Henderson K-12 Inclusion School operational structures and processes.
  • Establish a structured, positive, and inspiring school culture.
  • Lead recognition assemblies, parent workshops, family and community service events, and other school-wide culture-building activities.
  • Accurately monitor and analyze daily student attendance; homework and discipline records, and create new systems and structures to proactively address the school’s areas of need.
  • Coordinate and implement a school-wide behavior management system with meaningful incentives and consequences.
  • Work closely and effectively with children who need support with behavior management and their families; partner with teachers to execute individualized behavior interventions when needed.
  • Facilitate staff training on student-teacher relationships, parent partnerships, and school culture.
  • Conduct regular school culture walkthroughs to help staff maintain a high bar of excellence.
  • Coordinate February and April acceleration academies
  • Facilitate Community, Culture, and Climate team
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the school leader and/or central office.

Qualifications:

  • Strong commitment to the Henderson K-12 Inclusion School's mission, values, and educational model.
  • Desire to be a part of building a growing, innovative school and to meet the challenges this poses.
  • Bachelor's Degree, Masters Degree is prefered.
  • Minimum 2-4 years general management experience.
  • Ability to collaborate and work well under pressure.
  • Must hold a valid Administrative/Supervisor license from DESE.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States. Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment.
  • Previous school experience a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS - PREFERRED:

  • Demonstrated successful experience as a classroom teacher and teacher leader.
  • Experience working in nonprofit/community-based settings and experience with Boston-based youth-serving networks.

NOTE: School-based managerial employees will work 223 days between July 1st and June 30th each year. The 223 day work-year will include the 180 days in which school is in session, and the additional days will be determined by the employee and the principal or headmaster of the school.


School-based managerial employees are not eligible for vacation time or compensatory time. In the event of school cancellation due to snow or inclement weather, school-based managerial employees need not report to work.
