EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum five years of experience in business development, planning, management and developing and administering budgets for non-profit programs
  • Minimum of two years of experience supervising and managing a multifaceted professional staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of, and familiarity with, budget planning and accessing implementation of operation budget

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct supervision to the managers in the following campus functions: Financial Accounting, Development and Public Relations, Communication, Maintenance and Property, Campus Safety, Emergency Response Services, and Advisory Board
  • Provide oversight and coordination to the following managers and areas: Social Services, Human Resources, Volunteer Management, and Vehicle Fleet Maintenance
  • Direct activities in assigned programs and business units to optimize operational efficiency
  • Develop and implement budgets
  • Lead in development of fiscally sound programs
  • Oversee hiring, discipline, review, rewarding and terminating of staff
  • Oversee staff scheduling to ensure appropriate levels
  • Ensure the implementation of facility safety, Protecting the Mission (child/vulnerable adult safety) and maintenance policies
  • Evaluate and direct program/business to ensure compliance with Salvation Army policy and the Spokane Citadel Corps mission and to optimize financial and service performance
  • Advisory Board development, operation and co-stewardship with Corps Officer
  • Emergency and Disaster Services
  • Marketing and Public Relations planning and administration
  • Capital projects administration
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the day-to-day business and facility activities throughout the Spokane Corps Campus and Camp Gifford property
  • Oversee all legal, insurance and property matters related to the safe operation of The Salvation Army Spokane Corps operations
  • Meet regularly with the Corps Officers, Directors and Managers to participate in setting priorities within each department and to coordinate recommendations for repairs, remodeling, and replacement of facilities and equipment
  • Meet regularly with the Program Managers to coordinate business and programmatic matters with sound budget and fiscal requirements and with excellent service provision
  • Assist the Corps Officer with the process of accumulating and preparing financial statements, service and activity statistics as required by The Salvation Army reporting procedures
  • Assist the Corps Officer with all matters relating to Finance, including budgets, requisitions, proposals for purchase, property proposals and other matters needing approval of the Command Finance Council (CFC). Be available to give answers about expenditures and other fiscal related matters concerning the business aspects of the Center
  • Develop cooperative ventures that engage other community groups in the development of interaction with Salvation Army programs and building usage
  • Represent The Salvation Army in community collaborative groups as assigned by the Corps Officer
  • Assist in providing staff support to related Advisory Board Committees as assigned by the Corps Officer
  • Maintain clear channels of communication with the Corps Officer, other directors, support staff and necessary personnel and program participants. This will include the writing of internal memos, emails, schedules and calendars, flyers, newsletters and one-on-one discussions.
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and management team meetings
  • Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures
  • Perform other assignments/duties as directed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers and reach overhead
  • Ability to operate telephone
  • Ability to operate a computer
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Must be in good physical health and mental health, capable of meeting the demand of the Spokane Citadel Corps job site

Health Insurance: Low bi-weekly premiums for employee-only coverage, Kaiser HMO for those residing in a Kaiser service area, Anthem EPO/PPO is available for those residing outside a Kaiser service area. Voluntary +1 and +family coverage at additional cost. Delta Dental DHMO and DPPO dental insurance are offered.

Life and Voluntary Options. An employer-paid life insurance policy covers employees. Voluntary supplemental life, short-term and long-term disability plans are available.

Retirement Plans: Employer-funded Money Purchase Pension Plan (Defined Contribution Plan) 50% vested at five years eligible service time. Plus, an employee-funded voluntary 403(b) option.

Parental Leave: The benefit is 40 hours of Paid Leave for qualifying events.

Sick Leave: 12 days of Sick Leave annually accruing from day one, eligible for use after three months’ service time.

Paid Vacation:

  • Two weeks annually, accruing from day one, for non-exempt positions.
  • Four weeks annually, accruing from day one, for exempt positions.
  • Accrued vacation is eligible for use after six months’ service time.

Paid Holidays: 13 designated holidays + 1 floating holiday per year


The Salvation Army will comply with all governmental orders and any contractual obligations relative to COVID-19 safety measures, including mandatory vaccination of staff, if required.
