Overview:
The Director is responsible for leading the strategic initiatives, and ensuring the development of accurate and consistent merchandise plans, revisions and projects. Director guides their team in the analysis of sales trends, cost of goods, gross margin, inventory, and Open To Buy levels. Director partners with the Merchandising team to identify business opportunities and risks to sales and margin. Director leads Buying, Allocation and Supply Chain functions to optimally manage supply chain.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop monthly store/category plans that support each location's demographic needs and business opportunities and support strategic initiatives
  • Provide monthly breakout of Sales mix COS by venue to field for budgets and develop inventory budget
  • Negotiate and manage Logistics expense and relationships with 3PL partners
  • Reconcile top-down budgets to item forecasts. Recommend actions and strategies to maximize opportunity and reduce risk.
  • Lead and evolve strategy for buying, allocation, and inventory management.
  • Analyze and review program/category/style performance with Retail team to produce and manage OTB and optimize future buys and business opportunities based on trend/results
  • Review product performance weekly to determine replacement timing and necessary price change activity on discontinued styles.
  • Create and Manage Retalon rules and parameters related to desired WOS, frequency of orders, store minimums, capacities, shipment triggers, and dates to maximize in-stock rates
  • Ensure forecasts are accurate and timely based on business trends and customer demand
  • Provide monthly estimate of aged inventory and communicate any risks to end of year write off to Finance
  • Ensure all new items are properly set up in Retalon Planning system
  • Create forecasts in planning system and develop initial buy strategy to ensure high in stock
  • Utilize forecasts, business knowledge and input to execute and deliver purchase order for initial buys to maximize in-stock rate and reduce liability on discontinued merchandise
  • Ensure (NEW)purchase orders are sent to vendor and receipt/acceptance is acknowledged
  • Where necessary, develop inventory back up strategy with vendor
  • Ensure (RE ORDERS) purchase orders are sent to vendor and receipt/acceptance is acknowledged
  • Understand all parameters in Retalon system and make recommendations for changes/improvements where necessary
  • Work with Finance team to manage aged inventory accrual based on monthly review of anticipated end of year inventory position.
  • Produce and communicate permanent markdowns for discontinued products to maximize margins and sell thru
  • Load all permanent markdowns into system and ensure all prices are accurately pushed down to store level
  • Manage liquidation of inventory on all store closures to maximize margin and minimize inventory write off
  • Partner with Finance to assist with franchise order process.
  • Manage, mentor and develop the Planning & Logistics team to achieve their goals and objectives while supporting their career development.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the Planning & Logistics team for all aspects of the pre-season budgeting and in-season forecasting process.
  • Authorizes and creates PO's within 24 hours with vendor confirmation by email (Special Request)
  • Maintains/revises PO's (ship dates, cost/retail, quantities and revisions) as needed
  • Follow Transportation and routing standard work procedures and best practices, review and recommend enhancements, as needed.
  • Negotiate carrier rates and applicable contracts, maintain rate schedules and update annually.
  • Oversee and manage the outsourced global logistics supplier network to ensure the timely, cost-effective, and compliant shipment of all products
  • Responsible for managing movement, tracking, warehousing, and shipping of finished goods. Ensure all Supply Chain processes are efficient and maintain cost performance measures
  • Develop standards that support lead principles and implement processes. Lead cross-functional projects that will enhance the supply chain logistics operations
  • Develops/implements strategies that will increase the efficiency of goods movement and warehousing as well as reduce damage to the product during loading and transit
  • Provide strong leadership and specific direction to the global Operations team in the execution of top-level strategies, improvement priorities and the predictable delivery of other KPIs
  • Forecasts and recommends warehousing and logistics budgets for approval, including third-party logistics, warehouse activity, and freight spend. Monitors spending for adherence to budget and recommend variances as necessary
  • Drives the design, development, implementation, and management of logistics solutions, including DC network strategy
  • Manage and interact with suppliers of logistics, packaging, warehousing, and distribution as well as with the internal Supply Chain teams to ensure that all relevant requirements of delivery, cost, and quality are met
