The Director of EHS & Security ensures the safety and security of BioSpectra employees, systems, and facilities. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Environmental, Health, Safety and Security programs for each BioSpectra facility. This position is responsible for the maintenance, communication, training, and enforcement of each BioSpectra site security plan, Emergency Procedures, industrial hygiene and environmental management plan, safety program and chemical regulatory requirements. Additionally, this role manages the housekeeping and Fleet departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and oversight of EHS, Security, Housekeeping, and fleet initiatives, activities, programs, and personnel.
  • Develops and maintains an understanding and working knowledge of current federal, state, local and company regulations as related to EHS and Security practices.
  • Leads the Process Hazard Assessment program for all processes and systems.
  • Acts as liaison between the company and federal, state, and local safety, public health, and environmental agencies specific to EHS and Security.
  • Directs all Safety/Security inspection requirements for each BioSpectra facility and ensures complete documentation of each inspection for compliance.
  • Ensures all Safety and Security incidents are investigated and reported to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Trends and reports site safety performance to monitor effectiveness of site safety and security programs.
  • Completes all required OSHA record keeping.
  • Directs all environmental permitted activities for compliance with regulations and procedures and submits compliance reports to regulatory agencies as required.
  • Works with each site’s Safety Committee to ensure areas of non-compliance or concerns are identified and corrected along with the implementation of preventative strategies.
  • Collaborates with the Safety Committee to initiate the implementation of injury reduction plan and promote a “Zero Injury Culture” initiative.
  • Manages the monthly environmental, safety and security assessments and training.
  • Directs all EHS and Security programs to ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local requirements related to EHS and Security.
  • Ensures the completion of weekly safety inspections of all company sites.
  • Ensures all EHS and Security related files and documents are maintained and filed in accordance with BioSpectra’s document retention policy.
  • Creates BioSpectra product safety data sheets and all safety and security related documentation including plans and policies.
  • Creates response plan for safety or security related incidence and ensures the accurate completion, and compliant filing of incident reports.
  • Creates the documents and tools for the effective communication of chemical safety requirements to all BioSpectra personnel.
  • Approves the Vender or Supplier Contracts and ensures the successful management of each vendor as related to chemical waste disposal, plant trash and filter media disposal, security and EHS activities.
  • Ensures appropriate PPE is available for the activities performed at each BioSpectra facility and updates inventory requirements as needed.
  • Ensures PPE signs are posted and current in the necessary areas for existing and new processes.
  • Ensures the PPE Inventory is effectively managed, at required levels, to support facility operations and manufacturing.
  • Enforces the use of necessary PPE by BioSpectra employees, as required.
  • Ensures corrections are completed and provides corrective and preventative actions for any non-conformances related to EHS and Security.
  • Performs and documents risk assessments for new processes, changes in current processes or updates to processes to ensure employee and product safety.
  • Ensures Security Staff is well versed in applicable response measures to maintain a safe and secure environment at each BioSpectra facility.
  • Ensures building access and security is maintained in compliance with BioSpectra’s Security Program and communicates requirements to Safety/Security Staff each facility.
  • Ensures the maintenance of access logs for each BioSpectra facility and ensures safety documentation for visitors is current.
  • Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate by Leadership.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and 10 years of EHS experience or equivalent experience.
  • Requires working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to keep abreast of complex and ever-changing regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to clearly communicate both in writing and verbally.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift up to 20 lbs. occasionally
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to see and distinguish color
  • Bend, stoop, and carry
  • Repeating motion that may include wrists, hands, and fingers

Work Hours & Schedule:

  • Exempt Position
  • Minimum of 40-45 Hours Week, or other agreed upon documented schedule
  • Ability and willingness to work from all BioSpectra facilities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $100,000.00 per year
