Job Description
This position is responsible for the coordination and administration of academic services in University College, specifically regarding academic policies, processes, and appeals as well as academic services for student success.
  • Coordinate with Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Financial Aid, and Records and Registration on academic policies and processes, specifically pertaining to registration petition, academic warning, suspension, appeals, and probation;
  • Collaborate with the Office of Advising and Student Transitions to ensure students impacted in these areas are well informed and supported regarding success planning and understanding of credit completion and academic standing;
  • Assist students through the appeal processes and communicate effectively and timely;
  • Collect and provide documentation to support decision-making by the Dean/AVP or other appeal reviewers;
  • In collaboration with Records and Registration, review and make recommendations to Dean/AVP regarding appeals for credit transfer; communicate and support students in the appeal/application processes (e.g., with credit for prior learning);
  • Serve on committees on and attend training meetings related to academic polices, registration, appeals, and/or credit for prior learning;
  • Assess the effectiveness of these services to make continuous improvement.


Collaborate with directors and staff of the University College, and in partnership with campus offices, in the development, implementation, coordination, and assessment of academic support services, e.g., tutoring, peer mentoring, early alert campaigns and outreach, and/or guided learning pathway projects

Assist the Dean/AVP with budget management, personnel hiring, onboarding, and reviews; this position may also supervise a small student staff (e.g., graduate assistants, interns or student workers).

Collaborate with directors and staff in University College and campus partners to develop and implement events or projects that enhance student experience (e.g., transfer student experience) and strengthen students’ sense of belonging; serve as an advisor and/or provide support for student organizations tied to University College, e.g., Tau Sigma Honor Society for transfer students or Beyond the Label.

Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in education, higher education, counseling, student affairs, social work, or related fields.
  • 2 years of professional experience in counseling, coaching, advising, academic support services, or student affairs.
  • Experience in planning, implementing, promoting, and assessing events, projects, or initiatives.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and commitment to integrating principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of academic policies, university policies, processes, and academic programs
  • Work experience with credit transfer, academic appeals and probation; ability to fairly and compassionately communicate with students concerning their academic standing and supporting students through the appeal processes
  • Case management experience
  • Experience with data systems and student support software (e.g., ISRS, EAB/Navigate)
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across units
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
