As the Director of Engineering at SimpsonScarborough, you'll be responsible for leading the technology strategy and execution arm of the Digital team. This role ensures that every technical implementation project is completed to the highest standards is critical in establishing and expanding SimpsonScarborough's digital technology delivery and standards across various channels and marketing technology platforms.


Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the technology components of agency deliverables across a large project portfolio—from strategy and requirements development through execution and quality assurance testing—to ensure products are viable, meet agency and industry requirements and standards, and effectively support successful client outcomes.
  • Guide coding methodologies, quality assurance, and deliverable documentation standards for a team of technologists, including full-stack and front-end web developers and data architects through ongoing review, direction, and refinement of work products. Source and manage freelance/contract talent and services to augment staff as needed for optimal resource utilization and skill-building.
  • Continually evaluate, recommend, build and/or optimize web applications, systems and related infrastructure that improves agility in technical delivery to support next and new capabilities, enables automation and standardization, and assures compliance according to relevant regulations and standards (i.e. WCAG/508, FERPA, GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities and production of a team of internal developers and external development partners. Acting as a Coach, and mentor while still contributing to the production of internal or external deliverables as needed to support objectives.
  • Conduct recruitment, orientation, onboarding, and performance evaluations, as required.
  • Contribute to the development of sales proposals, including the review of technical requirements and scoping language.

Qualifications:

  • We believe in research, so we did ours. Relevant work experience is not a predictor of future performance. Both a bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent practical experiences will be treated equally
  • 5-7 years of experience leading teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Mastery of HTML5, CSS3, PHP, SQL, and JavaScript
  • Mastery of WCAG standards
  • Professional experience developing and deploying large websites with a variety of content management system (CMS) installations (i.e. Drupal, WordPress, Adobe Experience Manager, Sitecore, Modern Campus, Cascade, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of the SDLC, DevOps workflows and code versioning tools such as Git
  • Strong sense of web design and attention to the fundamentals of user experience
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Adept in strategic thinking with the ability to navigate a complex landscape of rapidly changing technologies.
  • Ability to independently prioritize with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts to inform and educate non-technical employees and clients.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary range begins at $125,000 and will extend based on candidate experience and capability.
