The Director, Commercial Applications is responsible for the business' marketing and commercial application ecosystem, including related strategies, architectures, and operations elements. The Director ensures all applications needed to support the enterprise’s mission, goals, and operational needs are provided in a timely, accurate, creative, and cost-effective manner.


Where will you work?

  • This is a full-time position working a hybrid schedule seated in our Swedesboro, NJ office.


What you’ll do:

  • Provide and sustain technology and architecture leadership of the next gen customer experience and e-commerce platform(s), including strategies, technology selection, roadmaps, and operating models in partnership with the marketing and commercial teams.
  • Evaluate, benchmark, implement, and evolve scalable application frameworks, platforms, technologies that enable engaging and positive customer experiences.
  • Introduce thoughtful technology transformation opportunities that balance deployment speed and investment effectiveness.
  • Define, implement, and maintain software development standards and best practices for robust, secure, scalable, highly performance, and supportable applications.
  • Instill the culture and processes necessary to effectively collaborate with leadership and functional partners as a ‘digital envoy.’
  • Maintain a complete set of architectural artifacts that accurately reflect the systems, all interactions and data flows, and the underlying infrastructure, as well as the business capabilities and user roles, supported or impacted by the solutions and their implementation.
  • Promote and oversee strategic and operational relationships between IT and external entities, including application vendors and service providers.
  • Devise and manage relevant OPEX and CAPEX annual and project budgets that support the essential responsibilities of the position.
  • Author and implement relevant technical policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure successful completion of all enterprise projects by managing scope, budget, resource plans, approach, work plans, internal and third-party resources, technology vendors, and risks.
  • Build team and develop staff members in accordance with the company's intellectual capital processes. Set objectives, coach, deliver performance reviews, and provide support in discussions involving staff compensation.

  • Knowledgeable in reporting and data analytics (Google Analytics, Tableau, etc.)
  • Skilled in DevOps and Agile and have a balance perspective of their value and applicability in a rapid evolving environment to deliver high quality software prototypes with the least technical debt possible.
  • Have a technical background involving broad exposure and / or technical depth involving: web front-end development (javascript/ES6, CSS (SASS/SCSS, next.js), mobile app development, UX/CX design, AWS/Azure, .net Core, C#, SQL, Angular, CRM (SF.COM preferred), environment monitoring and analytics tools (Datadog or comparable), API frameworks (building RESTful APIs and applications that consume them for a real-time customer experience), data architecture(s), and others.
  • You’re comfortable dealing with the challenges of an evolving technical product roadmap where decisions around technology choices may be based on evolving business strategy.
  • Committed to continual learning in varied technology related fields and ability to translate that knowledge into solutions that increase business value.


What you’ve done:

  • Obtained a bachelor’s degree in computer science, business administration, engineering, or related discipline. Masters degree preferred.
  • Have 7+ years’ experience conceiving, building, and sustaining modern applications in rapidly evolving B2B and B2C ad, marketing, and e-commerce environments / platforms and leading a team of software grade and highly scalable.
  • Developed a strong background in creating secure cloud architectures for customer facing applications that are enterprise grade and highly scalable.
  • Worked with digital marketing teams on developing customer journey experiences.
  • Navigated a matrixed organization and encouraged stakeholder engagement.
  • Facilitated the delivery of strategic project initiatives by partnering with assigned project leaders/managers as well as being comfortable leading the same from inception through delivery, as required.
  • Experienced in leading cross functional team in the evaluation, planning and successful execution of major initiatives in complex environments, in both operational and project settings, that significantly improve business operations and offer competitive advantage.
  • Managed dispersed application teams including offshore.
  • Become seasoned at evaluating and prioritizing build vs. buy decisions in a manner that brings features, services, and capabilities to market consistent with business expectations
  • Gained a practical understanding of traditional digital marketing channels, market e-commerce platforms and leaders in the same. Critical thinking skills range from strategy development to problem solving.
  • Skilled with micro-services architecture, design patterns, and standard methodologies with an eye towards scale, automation, resiliency, high availability, and user experience.
  • Experienced with the phases of standard software development lifecycles (Agile / Scrum / XP / Waterfall) and leading teams through the same.
