Are you an experienced sales leader looking for your next great adventure? Join TDS Telecom, a both established and growing telecommunications company, as a Regional Manager of our Consumer Direct Sales teams in Wisconsin!

As the Regional Manager-Consumer Direct Sales, you will be an integral part of the consumer sales proposition as TDS strives to diversify its sales from a call center-dominated operation. You will be accountable for achieving revenue targets by acquiring new consumer customers and upselling existing customers in target markets. Most of these activities will occur in current and proposed ILEC, Cable, or Out of Territory (OOT) markets where building a strong base of residential customers is critical in achieving the scale to meet TDS revenue projections and growth.

In this role, you will lead the development and management of the Consumer Direct Sales department (door-to-door direct sales), Partner Program, and outside contractors to drive market share in TDS Markets. An ability to work with remote teams is critical to the nature of this role. Responsibilities for existing sales channels includes management of the direct sales channel revenue and expense budget, updating initiative business cases, offer development, hiring and coaching of team members. In addition, you will be responsible for meeting with third parties in order to recruit them into our TDS Referral Agent/Partner Program, negotiating and approving contracts, and holding partners accountable for performance.

As the Regional Manager-Consumer Direct Sales, you will have overall responsibility to directly advise and counsel the SR VP – MSCO on all technical support and collections issues—including representing the business unit in forums dealing with such issues.

Although this position may be hired remotely in any of the 40+ states where TDS operates, preference may be given to candidates located in Wisconsin based on assigned markets.

The salary listed for this position is encompassing of both the base salary, as well as what one might expect to earn when meeting established sales quotas. The actual offer amount will carefully consider multiple factors, such as relevant skills, qualifications, work experience, location and/or competencies that align with the specified role. Responsibilities:
  • Manage direct sales teams, referral agent relationships, and direct selling agents. Achieve revenue targets within the bounds of the expense budget. Identify optimal and potentially alternate staffing models to achieve revenue targets.
  • Target and pursue prospective consumer partners and agents. Understand the agent’s business objectives and assess their suitability as a TDS agent. Ensure proper on-boarding and product and process training
  • Development of new TDS consumer sales channels with a focus on OOT, ILECand/or Cable markets, including, but not limited to:
    • Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and training new employees.
    • Ensuring new employees are properly permitted with local authorities.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing teams to develop strategies and promotional programs in support of overall agent channel goals.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree OR 4+ years professional work experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in sales or marketing
  • 5+ years’ management experience
  • Must be able to travel a minimum of 5% annually.

  • Due to managing multiple geographically dispersed market, must be willing to travel up to 25% of the time.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills including the ability to convincingly persuade others as evidenced in personal interviews and via telephone.
  • Demonstrated history of success in management or experience as in a mentoring role either formal or informal.

Associates scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week have access to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid time off benefits such as vacation (15 days accrued per year for full-time; pro-rated for part-time associates working between 20-39 hours), sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates), seven paid national holidays and one floating holiday, paid parental leave (2 weeks after 12 months of employment), among others. Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability coverage is also available for associates working 30 or more hours per week and Education Assistance is available to full-time associates. Associates scheduled to work under twenty hours per week or for a limited term (i.e. interns) are eligible for medical coverage, the 401(k) plan (if 18 or older), as well as sick leave (10 days accrued per year for full-time and pro-rated for all other associates).
