We are a commercial printing and direct mail production company seeking hard working, self-motivated Estimator to join our team.

SUMMARY

Estimates labor and material costs for all divisions of a direct mail package or other commercial printed matter. Secures other services and materials not available at Navistar Direct Marketing. Provides technical support to customer service and sales.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

Quoting

• Reads and interprets package specifications from a customer's specification sheet, purchase order, sketches, or samples
• Works closely with Sales regarding opportunities with top customers and new prospects
• Calculates unit and production costs; considering facts such as but not limited to size, paper stock requirements, finishing operations, post finishing operations, end use of product, and quality of finished product or package
• Confers with department heads and production personnel to develop or confirm information regarding various cost elements
• Analyzes cost effectiveness and provides a competitive price to the customer via the Quote Letter System
• Focuses on department goals of producing competitive, accurate quotes within a targeted time frame

Planning

• Reviews all incoming jobs for cost effectiveness and production efficiency
• Changes job processes to match actual functions being performed
• Creates change orders to reflect prices differences between the quoted price and the new price after changes to the job
• Stays current with Navistar Direct Marketing Services and other vendors capabilities

Procurement

• Has extensive knowledge of all paper inventoried by Navistar Direct Marketing
• Purchases job specific paper (paper not in Navistar Direct Marketing's inventory)
• Coordinates services, which cannot be performed at Navistar Direct Marketing with outside vendors
• Creates purchase orders for all purchases

Technical Support

• Offers alternatives to specifications to improve competitiveness, profitability, and/or performance
• Provides technical assistance to customer service, sales, and customers on all aspects of the production of a package.
• Works closely with customer service as needed at order entry, matching quotes to actual specifications for accuracy, and other technical questions.

Problem Solving

• Develops alternative solutions to jobs that differ from the quote.
• Provide creative solutions to work that doesn't fit Navistar Direct Marketing's equipment.

Education and Experience

• Two-year degree from college or technical school from college or university; or fours years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
