Zero Zone is a manufacturer of reach-in and open refrigerated and frozen food display cases as well as the refrigeration systems that work behind the scenes to cool the cases, keeping the food fresh! Our company is structured across 2 divisions – the Display Case Division, located in North Prairie, WI, Waukesha, WI, Pewaukee, WI and Mukwonago, WI and the Refrigeration Systems Division, located in Ramsey, MN and Dyersville, IA.

What Will You Do?

The Designer II position encompasses mechanical and electrical design elements to be developed in Solidworks and Visio, software packages and involves a degree of ERP involvement to connect these design elements to the ZZ business system (known as IFS). Designer requirements for this position should:

• Have shared project responsibility and collaborate with all Refrigeration and Controls efforts as well as working on custom projects with the “Specials Team” and other engineering groups as business dictates
• Participate in most phases of mechanical and electrical system design and development
• Possess and understanding of electrical, piping and control topologies for commercial refrigeration equipment. Coordinate and direct supplier assessments, quality audits and maintain scorecards.
• Create the following as prescribed by an engineer:
  • mechanical designs and drawings (shrouds, end panels, kick plates, trim, electrical enclosures, etc.)
  • piping routing and sizing calculations and drawings
  • new wiring schematics and wiring routing drawings
  • IFS structures (Bills of Material)

What Are We Looking For?

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required of you in this position:

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in an Engineering technical field, or ten-plus years of practical experience in mechanical design. In addition:
  • Possess a strong and demonstrated understanding of Solidworks
  • Possess a working familiarity with AutoCAD and PDM systems
  • DFM/A and LEAN efforts to better optimize production of assembly parts
  • Knowledge in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
