Job Summary

This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.


Under general supervision of the Director, the Custodial Supervisor has the ultimate responsibility for ensuring the cleanliness of various facilities in such a way as to promote health and safety; extend the life expectancy of the facilities; and provide the best possible experience for the customer and the staff; it is the role of the Custodial Supervisor, to develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules at the facilities to which they are assigned for all areas including, but not limited to, classrooms, kitchens, office areas, bathrooms, storage areas and entrances; this position has department specific responsibility.

Example of Work

(Illustrative Only) Develops, follows and ensures completion of the facility daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules; these schedules include: collecting and disposing of trash; disinfecting of cans and changing of bags as necessary; washing and sanitizing bathrooms fixtures; wet mopping of washable floors; cleaning of windows; vacuuming of carpeting; sweeping of entrances; dusting, washing and sanitizing of other surfaces; stripping and polishing of various types of flooring; and performing any other cleaning services necessary; sets up conference or meeting rooms in accordance with customer requests; works with the Custodial Lead to ensure adequate supplies of materials and equipment are available for the team to perform its duties; reports water leaks and other maintenance needs; presence of insects or other pests; and other health and safety hazards to appropriate parties; attends and actively leads and/or participates in pre-service and in-service training as required; continuously evaluates services being performed and develops training sessions for improvements; responds to customer inquiries and refers those to the Director when necessary; meets regularly with Department Heads and Elected Officials to determine satisfaction with custodial services, identify problem areas and reaching agreement on type, frequency and standards of service to be provided; serves in an on-call capacity as determined by the agency head; operates and maintains floor care equipment; monitors the performance of team members and Custodial Team Leaders against established standards for each facility; trains various members of the crews and Custodial Team Leaders in each of the areas of custodial care; keeps abreast of changes, developments, and improvements in the field for the care of facilities and equipment; works with Director to ensure adequate staffing to perform duties dependent upon changes in facilities, programs, and customer needs; hires, trains, supervises, mentors and assists with the disciplinary process of team members; regular and reliable attendance; performs other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; AND five (5) years of custodial work experience AND one (1) year supervisory experience; OR an equivalent combination of education of experience; must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license. Requires successful completion of a background check.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: County policies and procedures; materials, methods, and practices used in cleaning and sanitizing buildings and grounds, and related custodial operations; advanced techniques in floor care; occupational hazards and safety precautions; ordering and storing a variety of materials and equipment.

Skill in: Maintaining safety standards; following written and verbal instructions; assigning work to teams, monitoring their performance, correcting deficiencies, and supervising personnel; effective organizational processes, problem solving, and time management; learning and comprehending information from Procedures Manuals and other materials.

Ability to: Present a positive image of the organization to customers and staff; utilize various computer programs to monitor performance, order and track supplies, communicate with internal and external customers, and research products and equipment; physically move through the facilities with, or without equipment; bend, kneel, squat, pull, and push on a repeated basis; lift 50 pounds; communicate clearly in written or oral format; train and supervise a crew to accomplish assigned tasks; seek and evaluate proposals from vendors on equipment and supplies; perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, to stand, to walk, to go up and down stairs, to climb ladders, to carry objects, to reach above the head, and to bend and reach below the waist. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to thirty (30) or more pounds; this position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far, vision, and depth perception. Some of the work performed by the employee will be done outdoors throughout the course of the year.

Medical Coverage Category
The YCEBT is a self-funded medical plan administered by BlueCross BlueShield of Arizona (BCBSAZ). The employee is able to select from three (3) medical plan options with six (6) tiers that will best suit the employee's needs, dependents or families.

Plan Option 2: Preferred Provider Option B (PPO) or PPO B 1,200 deductible with $10.00 Wellness Incentive. Employees who participate in the "Wellness Incentive" will receive a $20 monthly premium reduction.

Plan Option 3: High Deductible High Plan - Health Savings Account (HDHP-HSA) or HDHP-HSA with Wellness Incentive.

HDHP-HSA Wellness Incentive for Employee Only option can receives upto $240.00 annual contribution to a Limited Purpose FSA card.

Southwest Service Administrator (SSA) Mexico PPO Health Plan: SSA is available to employees who are enrolled in YCEBT Medical PPO Plan. The SSA Plan pays 100% of hospital, medical, laboratory and prescription drug benefits, to a maximum of $5,000 per person per calendar year ($10,000 for two or more family members).
