The Roseville branch library is one of the busiest libraries in the State of Minnesota. Two thousand people use its services daily (seven days a week). The Roseville Library is a newly remodeled 70,000 square foot building housing a terrific collection, 120 public internet workstations, an 8,000 square foot children’s room, a teen room, a variety of study environments and a Dunn Brothers coffee shop. The library continues to support life-long learning. The strategic plan focuses limited resources on early literacy programming for families, youth development, technology literacy, makerspace programming, and workforce development. Technology users at the library tend to be those without internet access via their homes or workplace environments. The library serves as a community resource and equalizer in the digital divide. The AmeriCorps Community Technology Empowerment Project (CTEP) bridges the “digital divide” for new Immigrants and low-income communities in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Join AmeriCorps CTEP and help make the information age accessible to all. CTEP is a project of Saint Paul Neighborhood Network (SPNN).
Member Duties : Set up and run two or three weekly Open Labs with other Roseville CTEP member providing drop-in assistance with technology and job search questions to adults Teach classes to adults focusing on technology skills of all levels Develop new library programming for adults. Projects can vary depending upon the library’s needs and CTEP member’s interests and skills Recruit, train and supervise volunteers Create and strengthen partnerships with other community organizations Introduce new technology and equipment and create workshop for all ages in makerspace Evaluate the Library’s adult technology literacy programs and library web content Will collaborate with Roseville Youth CTEP to: Inspire the academic success of immigrant and low-income youth by providing technology literacy and youth media programming Provide technology instruction and assistance to students in grades 6-12 in out of school time.
