CTE Director, Principal and/or other Supervisor


Summary:
The Wahluke School district is in need of a CTE teacher qualified to teach CTE Digital tools course in the Business Management & Administration pathway, and as an TSA Advisor for activities (fundraising, practice sessions, etc) and competitions.

The Digitools instructor is employed by Wahluke School District to teach digital communication technology education courses as approved by the Wahluke School District and the Office of the Superintendent of Instruction.


Qualifications Required:

  • Washington State Teacher's Certificate appropriate for secondary school or ability to obtain certificate
  • Washington State Career and Technical Education Certification in Business Management and Administration career cluster, and Work-Based Learning endorsement or ability to obtain.
  • Vocational code V521206, V078000
  • Current first aid/CPR card required
  • Satisfactory evaluations
  • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or have received approved exemption prior to beginning work


Qualifications Preferred:

  • Evidence of a thorough knowledge of skills needed to build and maintain a successful Digitools / Digital Communications course.
  • Evidence of training or experience using technology and real world applications to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to align Digitools curriculum with the state essential learning requirements in the CTE Frameworks.
  • A team player who works cooperatively within the department, organization, administration, and community.
  • Ability to motivate and instruct students of all ability levels with emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles (Basic levels and extensions beyond basics).
  • Training or experience supervising student Career & Technical Student Organization (TSA or other CTSO).
  • Demonstrated success in maintaining a positive, productive learning environment within the classroom as well as with parents and colleagues.
  • Evidence of knowledge of digital communication technologies.
  • Punctual and consistent attendance at work, meetings, CTSO committees, conference


Job Description:

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Teach digital communication courses including, but not limited to, Digitools.
  • Teach and model lab (classroom, worksite) safety, including digital and cyber safety practices.
  • Maintain safe, orderly, and clean facilities, equipment, lab, classroom.
  • Participate in the curriculum development process to further integrate Common Core Math, Educational Technology, and English standards.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary PLCs.
  • Collaborate with CTE PLC.
  • Incorporate new and emerging technologies into the instructional process.
  • Develop business and community partnerships as guest speakers.
  • Develop and maintain communications with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Be flexible, innovative, cooperative with changes in education; facility use, district norms, practices and philosophies.
  • Participate in building or department-wide programs including, and not limited to; teaching technology, violence reduction/prevention, multicultural education, social and emotional learning (SEL), Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS), Balanced Calendar, grading practices, dual language, migrant education, district Strategic Plan, and other initiatives.
  • Follow the requirements and practices around IDEA, Section 504, and ADA in the education of students with disabilities.
  • Participate in parent conferences, IEP meetings, and other student-parent conferences and decisions.
  • The instructor is a full-time, 12-month employee and will teach only approved Digitoolseducation courses, and participate as a TSA (or other CTSO) Advisor.
  • The instructor will attend professional development, maintain clock hours, and complete CTE Teacher certification courses within the limits described in the professional development plan
  • Update and maintain the Digitools frameworks, program evaluations, and other required documents for the program and to be submitted on time.

**COMPLETION OF SAFE SCHOOLS WEB BASED TRAINING IS REQUIRED AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**


TSA Advisor

In addition to the Wahluke School District teacher calendar, the successful candidate will also assist as a TSA Advisor, will earn a stipend according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.


  • The successful candidate will be able, available, and willing to provide opportunities for students to participate and be active in the local TSA chapter, and for after-school hours practices, competitions, and study sessions.
  • Also, the instructor will provide feedback and direction to the students’ progress.
  • The instructor will adhere to the TSA/ASB rules and regulations.
  • TSA meetings will include officer elections, regular minutes.
  • Requisitions will be submitted to the ASB secretary with all components completed and attached.
  • Hours worked will be documented and submitted to CTE Director, and to HR on monthly basis.
  • The TSA Advisors will be expected to travel to competitions, and to participate as chaperones during all travels.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Participate in curriculum review and design.
  • Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
  • Monitor student progress, reflect on teaching strategies, and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Effectively implement district initiatives.
  • Serve as role model and leader to CTE students. Lead and supervise students in CTE and TSA activities both on campus, and off campus.
  • Maintain professional boundaries with students.
  • Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
  • Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
  • Willingness and ability to attend trainings/meetings that may include overnight travel.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation (accurate attendance daily, up-to-date grades)
  • Serve on committees as assigned.
  • Remain current on instructional practices in education (e.g. instructional technology).
  • Support the total school program by observing curricular and extracurricular student activities.
  • Exhibit dependability and punctuality in assigned duties.
  • Display appropriate personal and professional traits that exhibit a positive role model for students.
  • Strive to achieve the objectives and expectations of the Teacher Performance Evaluation Plan.
  • Collaborate with Intervention Specialists and share pertinent information with building administration and intervention teams.

Physical Hazards: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work indoors in a computer lab, with artificial light. The noise level in this work environment is moderate. This position includes, but is not limited to, working with computers and other technologies. The classroom environment is in a portable with an outdoor ramp.
