We are currently seeking to fill the following position:

Job Title: Cost Accountant

Full-time: Exempt

DEPARTMENT: Administration/Finance

REPORTS TO: Controller

PURPOSE:

The purpose of the Cost Accountant position is to support the Controller in the overall management of the company’s finances. This position will have primary responsibility for reducing the company’s financial waste and increasing profits including determining the actual cost and the associated expenses of manufacturing a product, analyzing its profitability and assisting with compiling the company budget.

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, JUDGEMENT & WORK EXPERIENCE:

Preferred Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

Minimum of 3+ years in progressive finance roles including cost accounting and preferably in the manufacturing industry and in a privately held organization.

PC proficiency is essential (Windows environment) and strong working knowledge of Excel is required. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff. Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation. The position requires a detail-oriented individual who can think both strategically and tactically to conceptualize alternative methods of achieving desired results and select the method most suited to the situation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS;

· Assess fixed and variable costs to determine the company’s total cost of manufacturing a product

· Establishing the standard costs of services or products

· Update the standard costs of products and services based on the associated expenses

· Analyze organizational data and assess rates of labor, depreciation and overhead to recommend policy amendments that will improve numbers

· Prepare monthly or quarterly reports for senior management

· Submit accounting reports to management every month or quarter

· Performing month-end cost accounting close

· Performing life cycle cost-benefit analysis

· Analyzing inventory valuations

· Monitoring unit cost variance

· Preparing cost of goods sold and production reports

· Reconciling beginning raw materials, work-in-progress and finished-goods stock

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

· Performs other duties as required by the Controller

ENVIRONMENT:

· Moderate noise

· Follow all department and plant wide PPE and Safety rules while on the shop floor

· Moderate dampness, heat, odor and fumes
