The standardized annual salary for this position is $46,689 dependent upon fund availability and OSHR approval.

Reporting to the Correctional Food Service Supervisor III, this position is responsible for the supervision of offenders performing large-scale food production and food operations. Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Providing supervision and custody of offenders in their assigned food preparation and food service work areas.
• Overseeing offender workers engaged in a variety of activities in food production including cooking, baking, and serving of food to the offender population.
• Training offenders in the art of institutional cooking, baking, and serving while maintaining standards of sanitation in all areas of the kitchen.
• Maintaining proper food storage, securing equipment, maintaining equipment, sanitation, and quality of work performed by the offenders.
• Communicating verbally and in writing; inputting and comprehending computer data; and reading, comprehending, and calculating menus.

This is a full-time position working rotating shifts with State Benefits.

The salary grade for this position is NC07. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and three years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operations, or as a Correctional Officer
Or
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum Education and Experience for a Trainee Appointment:
High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operations, or as a Correctional Officer
Or
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Necessary Special Qualifications: MUST be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.

Pay: $34,084.00 - $59,646.00 per year
