Banyan Treatment Centers is recruiting for a Cook to join our Food Services in our Stuart Florida location. The Cook provides food services in a residential substance abuse treatment environment.

Job Duties:

• Works in collaboration with the Food Services or Dietary Manager to help with the development of menus.
• Maintains cleanliness of dining room and kitchen in accordance to sanitary and with national and local standards.
• Discards waste properly in accordance with sanitary standards.
• Requisition food, supplies and equipment.
• Inspect and taste food for quality.
• Helps in the ordering of food, as needed by Food Services or Dietary Manager.
• Inspect and supervise serving of food and is responsible for quality and quantity of food served.
• Assure preparation and handling of food in accordance with sanitary regulations and with national and local standards, acting within administrative policies and within budgetary requirements.
• Assure preparation of sufficient quantities of food in time to meet meal schedules.
• Assure storage of perishables and avoidance of food spoilage and waste.
• Ensures proper shut down and open of Kitchen and all Kitchen equipment.
• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards
• Preparing ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat).
• Experience in using cutting tools, cook ware and bakeware
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods, grilling, baking, boiling
• Knowledge of cross contamination of foods and dishwashing procedures
• Maintains and ensures proper cleanliness of equipment after each use.
• Assure palatability and appetizing appearance of meals.
• Assure care of kitchen equipment.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others and a variety of employees.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience in the area of sanitation, hygiene, food preparation.
