PGL, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Compliance Monitoring Grp Ldr in our Chicago, Illinois location.

Job Summary

Lead and supervise the internal group of 12 to 16 compliance monitoring auditors and/or inspectors across PGL and NSG. These auditors/inspectors are both internal and contracted. The auditors/inspectors conduct audits of gas operating and pipeline construction activities at PGL and NSG.

Audits include:

  • QA/QC field verification audits (e.g. corrosion control system readings, valve inspections, inside safety inspections)
  • Performance audits (e.g., construction QC inspection, LP/MP conversions, meter removal, vault inspection)
  • Various records related audits (e.g., Operator Qualification oversight)
  • Manage special independent investigative audits for PGL and NSG
  • Lead and assume full responsibility for the execution of the QAQC Plan applicable to each company, and assist the Compliance Manager in establishing periodic revisions and improvements to the QAQC plan
  • Responsible for organizing, planning, developing, and executing statistical analyses of audit findings, including metrics associated with the QAQC plan or the audit findings; and for analytical comparisons to best practice or external regulatory audit entities
  • Responsible for planning, developing, organizing, coordinating and executing a variety of projects that are complex in nature and require the application of project management skills
  • Administer the use of database programs for the above described functions. Identifies and implements new processes, programs and procedures

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise the audit work groups including planning work activity schedules, resource allocation, prioritization of audits and project activities, etc.
  • Develop scope of work, manage program or project needs and deliverables, etc.
  • Organize and coordinate workgroup and project meetings, responses to data requests, selection of outside service providers, etc.
  • Plan, develop, organize, coordinate and execute a variety of projects for improvements to the compliance monitoring function, which are complex in nature and require the application of some project management skills.
  • Perform a variety of evaluations and analyses using appropriate statistical modeling and report production software applications.
  • Accountable for monitoring of the quality of the audits performed by the work group’s auditors.
  • Develop employees through provision of training, coaching, mentoring, and/or providing performance feedback, actions and supervision to assure performance of best quality audits of gas operations functions.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in audit, business administration, engineering, statistics, legal, computer science or related discipline.
  • 1+ years preferred: Knowledge of Maximo, Open C, Navigate, and other Company Software packages.
  • 1+ years audit experience preferred, especially in the areas of integrated, operational, or internal auditing.
  • 3+ years working with and understanding related codes (Title 49 CFR 192, PSC 135, API, ASTM, MSS, etc.) and operating procedures related to natural gas operations.
  • 3+ years standard computer applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • 3+ years completion or management of tasks as a part of a project.
  • 5+ years technical gas operations. Exposure to distribution or transmission line construction processes (welding, tapping, hydro test, purging, tie-ins, etc.) and/or distribution system processes.
