COMMUNICATIONS AND FUND DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE
Pay Range: $27.00 - $31.00 per hour

POSITION OVERVIEW*

The Communications & Fund Development Associate plays an important role by providing project coordination and administrative support to the Fund Development department and will actively support the Fund Development team in all aspects of fundraising, including donor relations and research, direct mail appeals, marketing and communications/volunteer coordination, special events, and backup support for the donor database.
The individual who will thrive in this position is a creative, entrepreneurial team player with exceptional administrative and organizational skills who is committed to HomeRise's mission and values and internalizes the opportunity to exponentially increase donor and volunteer resources in order to have a meaningful impact on homelessness in San Francisco.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Communications

  • Prepare donor, media, and campaign materials for distribution, including copywriting, design work, fact checks and proofing, managing mailing lists, etc.
  • Manage HomeRise Social Media channels and maintain social media calendar, including working across departments to manage messaging
  • Assist with general communications and marketing projects including resident spotlights, press releases, and video marketing pieces, amongst other things
  • Work internally across departments and with outside vendors to review/revise website on a timely basis
  • Build and maintain relationships with other HomeRise departments in service of ongoing and new projects

Special Events

  • Serve on internal events committee to help with planning and execution of all fundraising events. Help staff coordinate other major donor cultivation and stewardship events, building-specific events, staff events, etc. in order to generate awareness of and support for HomeRise
  • Maintain guest lists, record and track donor participation, gather and prepare registration materials, coordinate volunteers and outside vendors, as needed/assigned
  • Coordinate administrative details associated with committee, event, internal, and other meetings (i.e. prepare and distribute notices, agendas, minutes, etc.)
  • Deepen donor engagement through volunteer events
  • Manage and track volunteer opportunities, hours, and activities

Fund Development

  • Conduct preliminary research on prospective donors, both individual and corporate or foundation
  • Draft donor emails, taking responsibility for donor relationships as assigned
  • Provide backup support to manage donor/volunteer database, including coordinating with other staff to ensure data is input accurately and in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Location: 251 Post Street, Suite 200 San Francisco, CA
  • Status: Full-Time/ Non-Exempt
  • Schedule: Generally, Monday through Friday 9 am -5 pm
  • Reports to: Communications + Donor Engagement Director

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of an Associate degree in Communications, Business Administration, or related field, experience may be considered

  • Ability and willingness to be a contributor as well as tactical implementer in an organization with limited support infrastructure
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Database management (Kindful), website management (WordPress), and emarketing platform experience preferred
  • A self-starter, data and deadline driven, and ability to multi-task with solid organizational and time management skills
  • A team player who cultivates internal and external allies and offers new ideas and creative approaches
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Familiarity with and interest in issues related to homelessness, supportive and affordable housing, workforce development and related social services and systems
