Purpose

The primary purpose of this position is to provide exceptional customer service while collecting past due accounts.

Accountabilities

• Answer incoming and make outgoing Collections calls
• Generate deferred payment plans for delinquent customers
• Navigate, Generate and Complete work orders, and note actions with customers within SAP
• Advise and Negotiate with delinquent customers in accordance with Home Energy Fair Practices Act (HEFPA)
• Process Department of Social Services (DOSS) Vouchers, Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) payments, and Charity payments
• Investigate and process return mail and returned payments and credits
• Assist in maintaining the processing of Bankruptcy accounts as they are filed
• Prepare and Maintain various spreadsheets
• Support continuous process improvement activities through engagement of management and staff
• Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience

• Associates degree preferred
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to work independently, quickly, and accurately
• Must be able to multi-task
• Demonstrates good judgment
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Firm yet compassionate when communicating with customers.
• Diligence in following NYS regulations
• Valid NYS driver’s license
