Job description

The Quality Engineer position serves as the “designer” for each specific production operation at Beacon. The Quality Engineer will answer to the Quality Manager. Each QE will be assigned production areas to complete the following design requirements. Once designed and implemented the QE will analyze all data and report out to the QM daily, weekly. The QE will be responsible for creation of all information board containing all metrics, plans and notifications of the ongoing projects.

o Preventative Maintenance

· Cleaning schedule

§ Critical Inventory List of Parts

o Maintenance

§ Unscheduled Maintenance

· Countermeasures

o Analysis of downtime

§ Scheduled Maintenance

· Schedule or actions (Annual)

· Suppliers

· Timeline of repairs

· Inventory

o Organization (5S) of inventory.

o Performance

§ Process specific metrics of system performance

· Example (Coating thickness, profilometer, coating weights, Testing, and evaluation by customer standards)

o Continual Improvement

§ Process improvement:

· Production efficiency

· Ergonomics for personnel

· Process Training

· Quality of product

§ 2 projects required per year for each area.

· Data Collection/Analysis

· Data Collection methods and analysis will be designed implemented and controlled by the QE.

· Process Suppliers

· Process suppliers for consumables/services

o Clearly stated on the “Information Board” for each production area.

· PFMEA

o Reported Weekly by QM at Managers Meeting

· Process control charts shall be created for every factor determined to be significant.

o Reaction plans to out of spec control readings will be thoroughly documented through the Control Plan and PFMEA

The type of person we are looking for:

• Has knowledge of powder coating/e-coat and the industry itself
• Has multicoating experience
• Is experienced at working with people on the plant floor who know the operations
• Is analytical – process controls, process non-conforming issues
• Can work with customers – PPAP, project based work, continuous improvement, problem solving
• Involved with process design – lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, intelligent design, preventive maintenance, 5S
• Has technical experience
• Works well within a team environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
