About the opportunity

CRS Engineers is passionate about providing Answers to Infrastructure. We are seeking a Civil Engineer to support its growing railroad engineering practice in Salt Lake City, UT. Qualified candidates must have design experience and must be proficient with Civil 3D and other standard design / modeling tools.


Experience and qualifications for success


  • B.S. in Civil Engineering (or approaching graduation)


  • 4-7 years of civil engineering experience and licensed or actively pursuing licensure


  • Strong written communication skills required for writing in a technical format


  • In collaboration with staff engineers, must be able to design general engineering solutions


  • Must be detailed and quality oriented


  • Must be able to handle multiple projects concurrently and maintain flexibility to changes in work assignments as changes occur in project


  • Experience with AutoCAD and full Microsoft Office Suite


  • Experience with Microstation Inroads not required but a plus


  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Perform assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities of standard engineering techniques and procedures


  • Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications and verify that they are complete, accurate and in accordance with best engineering practices and railroad standards


  • Assist in the preparation of calculations for cost estimates and other supporting documentation for a variety of engineering projects


  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and work in a team environment


  • Work within a team to respond to comments and meet project deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and monitors project budgets.

  • Responsible for project schedules and timely completion of projects.

  • Serves as project engineer on complex projects and as a designated client contact

  • Supervises and monitors client relationship strategies

  • Coordinates and approves pricing, estimating, scoping and marketing strategies for proposed projects.

  • Attends client meetings -as necessary.

  • Analyzes reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, and aerial photographs on soil composition, terrain, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design project.

  • Prepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for project

  • Visits construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents

  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents
