CHURCH ADMINISTRATOR

Position Overview: The Church Administrator is responsible for support services at Forest Hill Church, Presbyterian (FHC) in Cleveland Heights. The employee reports to the Pastor. Ultimately all staff members are accountable to the Personnel Committee. This part-time, non-exempt position is eligible for benefits. Hours may vary by week and time of year but are typically 25 hours/week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the pastor in responsibilities that include making appointments, maintaining his calendars and outreach to members and guests.
  • Train, supervise and coordinate the work of office volunteers.
  • Fulfill routine office responsibilities and church administrative tasks.
  • Maintain church records of births, baptisms, weddings, and deaths.
  • Budget, order and maintain office supplies.
  • Serve as the administrator of the member database (Breeze).
  • Provide support for worship services.
  • Prepare graphics and worship inserts for live-streamed worship services.
  • Monitor chat use during live streaming, collect highlights and prayer concerns to share with worship and ministry leaders as appropriate.
  • Create outdoor signage for special events.
  • Work closely with the Clerk of Session
  • Ensure the church register is current and all required Presbytery filings are done in a timely manner, including the annual review of minutes.
  • Assist in preparation of the Statistical Report to the Presbyterian Church(USA).
  • Collaborate in the preparation and distribution of the Annual Report to the Congregation.
  • Update and maintain the FHC Policy Manual (under the direction of Session and the Personnel Committee).

Qualifications:

  • Previous administrative and office management experience
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office required
  • Knowledge of Breeze database, WordPress, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign is a plus, but will train
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in proofreading and editing
