PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:


Responsible for providing supervision, care, and developmentally appropriate activities to a group of 4 to 15 children. Performs activities that ensure the safety, involvement, and creativity of each individual in the group.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Attendance at work on a regular and reliable basis.
  • Maintain current certification in First Aid, CPR, Mandatory Reporting, and Universal Precautions.
  • Attend Employee Orientation and Customer Service.
  • Complete annual training hours based on full time or part time status.
  • Meet mandatory requirements for professional growth.
  • Assist in greeting parents and children.
  • Assist in recording daily attendance.
  • Assist in providing developmentally appropriate activities for the children.
  • Assist in supervising children during activities- daily activities, meals, snacks, outdoor play, and on field trips and walks.
  • Assist in feeding infants and toddlers as necessary.
  • Observe and evaluate children as assigned.
  • Assist children in toileting and diapering at regular intervals, as necessary.
  • Intervene when children are likely to harm themselves; enforce safety rules.
  • Supervise children during nap times.
  • Adhere to DHS state regulations and VBCH Child Care Center policies.
  • Report any injuries, complete incident report for injury, and notify director.
  • Interact with the children throughout the day.
  • Develop ideas and activities for the program.
  • Assist in ordering and collecting new materials and equipment.
  • Assist with records and bookwork as needed and as assigned by the director.
  • Report any misconduct or non-professional actions of staff to the director or the hospital administrator.
  • Report any child abuse to the appropriate authorities.
  • Provide information on a daily basis to parents regarding daily activities.
  • Gather information regarding the health and well being of child during their arrival.
  • Provide information regarding the child’s day verbally and/or in writing to the parent at the end of the day.
  • Provide information for monthly newsletter as necessary and distribute to parents
  • Is familiar with each child in their program by name, and is familiar with the background of each child
  • Is familiar with the activities of their group and is able to implement age appropriate activities with their group
  • Respects each child as an individual with individual needs, desires, and gifts
  • Maintains appropriate discipline, as detailed in the child care center handbook.
  • Able to interact positively with children of all ages.
  • Able to be a role model for respect, manners, and appropriate behavior
  • Reviews and follows the child care emergency plans.
  • Participates in monthly emergency drills.
  • Assists in housekeeping duties within assigned section.
  • Completes Quality Assurance Sheet outlining housekeeping duties.
  • Must be able to safely work in an environment where latex is prevalent.
  • Complete annual education requirements.
  • Attend meetings as appropriate.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements.
  • Stays up-to-date with industry matters by reading/attending educational presentations.

This position is 4, 10 hour days. No nights, weekends or holidays! Previous experience working with children and good communication skills are required.
