OBJECTIVE / PURPOSE

The Process Engineer is responsible for process and quality control for synthetic fiber manufacturing processes that operate around the clock and 7 days a week. The Process Engineer ensures that products are capable of meeting or exceeding customer quality expectations. The Process Engineer works for the Technical Manager and works to complete process and product development and process control activities. The Process Engineer works with the Manufacturing Department, Maintenance Department, and other Technical Department staff to troubleshoot process and machinery issues.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS

· Coordinates and responds to problems relating to quality issues both internal and external.

· Communicates with technical service concerning customer issues and product requirements.

· Monitors all internal testing and systems to ensure product quality and suitability for customer requirements prior to shipment. Maintains products on target through the application of sound SPC techniques.

· Develops and uses process control skills.

· Gathers information needed to respond to customer complaints.

· Responds to critical situations within the plant or at a customer’s location.

· Notifies plant staff of quality issues, failure to meet original expectations, and quality of incoming raw materials.

· Troubleshoots raw material, process, and product issues.

· Aids the ISO Coordinator in managing the Quality Systems in compliance with ISO Standards.

· Analyzes process and product data and making timely decisions for controlling the process and reducing product variability.

· Responsible for the preparation, control & issuing of process settings for synthetic fiber melt spinning and drawing processes.

· Develops products and processes as required.

· Uses continuous improvement tools including multivariable testing and DOE methodology.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS

Education: A four-year college degree in engineering or textile sciences is preferred and/or equivalent experience in synthetic fiber manufacturing or textile manufacturing using synthetic fibers.

Experience: Experience in synthetic fiber manufacturing is preferred. Knowledge of QA/QC procedures is required. Experience developing product specifications, process operating instructions, and quality control processes is preferred. Experience interacting with customers, raw material suppliers, manufacturing managers, and hourly employees is preferred.

Specialized / Training: Must have above average technical, problem solving and analytical thinking skills. Must have well developed computer skills to be able to work with complex spreadsheets for analyzing data and preparing detailed reports and presentations.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
