What we’re looking for in you

Required:

• Associate's degree in Nursing
• Current Minnesota RN license with regular renewal
• Current BLS - American Heart Association or BLS - American Red Cross (CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer & Health Care Provider)
• Must have one of the following: Telemetry Course. If not present at start, must obtain within 9 months of start date OR Competency validation for those with telemetry experience.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing

Experience & Skills for the Charge RN - Med/Surg:

Required:

• Previous related health care experience
• Working knowledge and understanding of current unit policies and procedures
• Clinical skills necessary to provide accountable patient care and serve as a resource for other staff members
• Positive communication skills
• Decision making and problem-solving skills necessary for managing department activities
• Demonstrates self as an example for fellow staff members and encourages a positive attitude and "team approach"
• Professionalism, leadership, assertiveness, flexibility, initiative, fairness, accountability, responsibility, confidence, and self-discipline

The purpose of the Charge RN - Med/Surg role

The Charge Nurse is directly responsible to the Nurse Manager in all matters of patient care, personnel supervision, and management of the department. The Charge Nurse provides continuity of leadership and is responsible for the evaluation and prioritization of activities to meet the challenging unit demands throughout the day while ensuring the quality of care is being rendered in a cost effective-manner.
