This position is part-time and does not include state benefits.

The Virginia Department of Education Office of Special Education Finance and Budget is seeking a part-time qualified and experienced individual to independently or collaboratively provide assistance to school divisions and state agency sub-recipient fiscal officers or grant mangers in the administration of CARES, ESSER I or ESSER II special education and student services grant award records and provide training or technical support in the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) procedures and requirements. The position will review and approve reimbursement and budget requests in Omega, assist with budget development and management, and may periodically perform desk or onsite reviews to verify compliance with federal, state, or Uniform Guidance requirements. This position will prepare periodic reports and updates concerning the status of grant funds and assist with various tasks in support of the office, including special education and student services related grants. The funding for this position ends on September 30, 2024.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of the administrative principles, practices, procedures, and techniques used to execute and administer comprehensive grant programs
  • Strong communication skills both oral and written; excellent interpersonal skills
  • Administrative/management skills in program management; expertise in using software applications (Word/Excel); problem-solving skills to address complex programmatic and financial issues
  • Demonstrate the ability to independently perform a variety of complex administrative tasks associated with maintaining the fiscal integrity of a grant program; to write and solicit grants; and to accurately record observations and results
  • Demonstrate the ability to review grants and budgets, analyze expenditures, and manage reimbursements
  • Use of Excel, Word, Google sheets, and Google docs

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in using OMEGA preferred

  • Successful candidate must pass a criminal background check.
