Job Title: Camp Manager
Reports to: Regional Minster
Compensation and benefits package:
Base salary range with housing: 57,800K-60,800K
Additional Benefit of Pension Available at $5K

Housing:
  • A house will be provided to you as your residence at Bethany Hills.
  • All utilities for the house will be paid.
  • All maintenance and repairs over the cost of $100 will be paid. Any normal wear and tear maintenance repairs under $100 will be your responsibility.
  • Your spouse may reside in the house with you. The current rental value of the house is $1800 per month, utilities $350 for a total of $2150 per month/$25800 per year.

Job Summary:
The responsibilities of this role include managing the camp schedule and keeping the grounds and facilities, including all buildings and amenities in good working order. Additionally, the camp manager is responsible for facilitating needed upgrades and ensuring compliance with ACA policies. We seek an energetic and positive manager who can hire and supervise seasonal staff, including lifeguards, cooks, and grounds crews. Candidates should also be comfortable creating and maintaining budgets, and managing youth workers, volunteers, and church groups. The camp manager position requires interfacing with a large and diverse group of people, so great customer service skills and a warm and welcoming attitude are necessary. The Camp Manager must have some experience in the kitchen and some light maintenance duties. (Changing light bulbs, cooking breakfast, etc.)

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Recruit, interview and hire help for kitchen, cleaning, maintenance, and lifeguard within budgetary limits and Personnel Policies.
  • Submit time sheets for workers to the Christian Church in Tennessee bookkeeper
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Live on-site and serve as host for groups that use Bethany Hills Camp and Conference Center.
  • Maintain Bethany Hills as an attractive, hospitable conference center, prepared for all users and groups, and in compliance with all applicable government and health regulations.
  • Schedule events on the Camp Calendar, and relay that information to other Regional Staff.
  • Maintain the grounds (mowing, trimming, etc.).
  • Be readily available to guests on the grounds.
  • Do normal checking, and perform maintenance and repairs on buildings, equipment, and grounds, within budget guidelines.
  • Support and assist volunteer workers and contractors working on the grounds.
  • Assure the Program Director that a staff person is always on the grounds during the summer, and when guests are on the grounds to handle maintenance needs and telephone calls to the camp.
  • Maintain good working relationships with other Regional Staff, all groups, donors, volunteer work groups, and CCTN pastors and congregations.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the Commission on Camp and Conference, and adhere to the Regional Personnel Handbook, constitution and bylaws.
  • Coordinate and Collaborate with the Chair of the Camp and Conference Commission.
  • Recognize the following chain of authority:
  • Head of staff will be the Christian Church in Tennessee's Regional Minister and President.
  • The Christian Church in Tennessee Regional Board.

Other Duties:
  • Attend Monthly Staff Meetings.
  • Attend Staff Retreats.
  • Attend Regional Assembly.
  • Attend Quarterly Reviews, Annual Staff evaluations, and performance reviews administered by Regional Minister.
  • Present written reports to the Regional Board, Executive Committee, and Regional Assembly on a regular basis.

  • Must have excellent communication skills, both within the Disciples community and to outside groups.
  • Must be comfortable networking with Youth, Pastors, Congregations, and the camping community
  • Have an interest in best practices for faith-based camps and retreat centers.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least two years of college
  • At least 3-4 years experience working at a campground or large outdoor facility.

Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
