Your role: Our Core Buyer & Scheduler works directly with Production, Sales and Materials to purchase core engine components on the market in relation to the demands of the schedule for our Monett facility. This position also schedules production in the Disassembly Facility in coordination with the same departments listed above. The incumbent reports directly to the Master Scheduler.

This position can be based at our Springfield or Monett location but will require at least 2 days per week spent in Monett.

Essential Responsibilities include:

  • Works with the Sales, Production and Materials personnel to ensure raw, in-process, and finished goods are delivered on schedule to internal and external customers.
  • Assist the Master Scheduler in maintaining a master production schedule for the facility.
  • Controls the day to day flow of materials through production.
  • Confer with departmental supervisors to assess production progress and discuss needed schedule modifications.
  • Distributes productions schedules and work orders to departments.
  • Contribute to qualifying and approving vendors of services and products for use in finished goods and in business operations.
  • Responsible for negotiating vendor pricing, delivery, quantities, and service agreements.
  • Communicate with vendors and Sales, Production, and Materials Departments to coordinate production and shipping activities and eliminate delays.
  • Assist in maintaining and accurate inventory system and participates in annual inventory audits.
  • Works with other departments to maintain a high value on employee relations and a safe workforce.
  • Work with customers to review market conditions, and continuously looks for long term and short-term cost reductions form vendors/suppliers.
  • Work with quality department to ensure the purchasing system meets the IATF-16949 standard.
  • Participates in and supports the principles of Open Book Management and materials department annual budgeting long term strategic planning.
  • Ensures compliance with NAFTA Country of Origin Compliance when required.
  • Will include approximately 10% travel.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and talk and hear. Sitting 60%, standing/walking 40%. Frequently lift and or move up to 20 pounds and 50 pounds occasionally.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Business Administration or related degree preferred.
  • APICs certified preferred.
  • Three (3) years of previous production control/materials experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating in Infor Syteline/CloudSuite Industrial or other similar ERP system preferred.
  • Experience in negotiations and problem solving with customers and suppliers.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Requires effective relationship management skills with co-workers in a team environment.
  • Requires the desire to expand personal competencies and capabilities through training and education.
  • Experience or training in inventory control, shipping and receiving, and basic stock keeping principles.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task by balancing/prioritizing multiple projects at any given time.
  • Computer literacy/experience required. Must be able to operate in a Windows environment. Ability to use MS Word, Excel, e-mail, and PICK.
