SUMMARY
The Rental Technician assists guests with finding and fitting ski and snowboard equipment during the winter season and with mountain bike equipment during the summer season. This position works with guests directly on a daily basis to provide the best customer experience possible while staying up to date with current trends in equipment technology.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
(include the following, other duties may be assigned)

WINTER-SPECIFIC:

Examine the rental fleet for maintenance and repairs needed.

Properly fit guests with ski/board or mountain biking equipment.

Determine appropriate gear for guest based on experience level.

Stay educated on latest technology and trends in equipment technology.

Participate in safety trainings.

Listen and understand guest needs to provide exceptional guest service.

Other duties as assigned, which could be directly related or unrelated to original position.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


COMPUTER SKILLS

Very basic computer skills are needed to operate Rental computer program.


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Ski Binding Release Adjustment certificate is required.


OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES

Basic hand tool use.

Ski/board maintenance/tuning process experience for winter position.

Specific vision requirements of this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently working near moving mechanical parts and occasionally exposed to fumes and airborne particles.

The work environment in this position is usually moderate.


RESORT CONDITIONS

This is a Winter Resort Area. It requires that work venues are varied, and in many cases include steep stairways, multi-level buildings and outdoor work areas, subject to very cold, sometimes wet or very sunny work sites. Some facilities are located at the base or bottom area and some are semi-remote and can only be reached by traveling via chair lift(s), skis or snowboards. Walking surfaces are frequently frozen, sloped and slippery. Proper footwear is a must, indoors and out. Work days and hours, as well as the number of hours required will vary, with an emphasis on weekends and holidays.
