Barton Malow is looking to add a VDC Manager to the team to support a large range of projects. This individual will provide onsite technical support, lead the BIM Cluster group and lead BIM Coordination throughout the duration of a project. The position requires a consistent on-site presence to better familiarize themselves with the project team. This person also documents best methods and processes, provides training, and may assume VDC management responsibilities as required in support of project execution onsite.

Responsibilities:
Performs model QA/QC and quantity take-off and mentor others to do the same.

Trains and supports VDC team members and project teams in every area of VDC - coordination, 4D,5D 6D, document control, QTO, etc.

Executes Trade Coordination, 4D, Site Logistics, 5D Quantity Take-Off, 6D setup, etc. on projects as necessary.

Creates and delivers formal training - e-learning, instructor-led and webinar - as required.

Independently Creates quality BIM Execution Plans (including 01370 and BIM Guidelines).

Oversees implementation of VDC services on projects and/or pursuits.

Reviews BIM Execution Plans Created by VDC Engineers and provides necessary mentoring and support.

Leads software testing for new releases of existing software and new software.

Creates and manages budget related to VDC delivered services on a project such as coordination, 4D, logistics, constructible modeling, reality capture, etc.

Creates, manages and maintains coordination or other VDC services related schedule through close coordination with project controls and the project team.

Manages basic owner & project team issues/concerns and handles communications with lower levels of owner organization, issues with subcontractors, and relationships and communication with architect/engineers, clients and consultants.

Assists VDC team members, preconstruction and/or project team members with preparation of constructability reviews, site logistics plans, and the punch list process . Oversees Mechanical/Electrical coordination process and owner equipment coordination process.

Understand each project's unique change management requirements and RFI processes and ensures VDC processes are setup and executed in alignment with them.

Creates VDC services change management / quote information receiving assistance for initial assumptions.

Involved in seeking repeat and new business sales, including assisting with response to RFPs and preparation of presentations.

Identifies and implements opportunities for fee enhancements, including billing rates, self-perform opportunities and additional scope.

Participates in preparation of preselling efforts with prospective & current clients.

Participates in preparation for speaking engagements at various industry events and conferences.

Qualifications:
6-8 years’ experience in construction or architecture industry.

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or relevant field.

Knowledge of building systems and construction methods, including architectural, civil, structural, mechanical and electrical and ability to read drawings and specifications.

Advanced skills in MS Office skills, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.

Basic SAP reporting skills.

Knowledge of corporate and OSHA safety policies and emergency procedures.

Possesses deep knowledge and understanding of many of BMC VDC capabilities (ex. design & trade coordination, 4D, logistics, reality capture, document control) and demonstrates the ability to apply this knowledge to unique project circumstances and issues to drive efficiencies and mitigate risk.

Demonstrated ability to propose and implement a strategic plan related to a subject matter area with some assistance.

Possesses understanding of project management responsibilities and processes for a project such as submittals, RFIs, change management, forecasting, closeout, commissioning, quality control, etc.

Possesses deep understanding of self-perform practices for one or more trades and demonstrates the ability to combine this knowledge with VDC knowledge to improve productivity of a project and/or a task.

Actively identifies and pursues improvements to VDC related processes and best methods through self-driven research and experimentation and acting on feedback from others.

Ability to present BMC's Approach to VDC confidently, accurately and with passion.

Ability to create and deliver a training course with support from the training lead.

Ability to train others to lead BIM trade coordination meetings.

Ability to create BIM Execution Plans (including 01370 and AE BIM Guidelines) based on information known about the project .
