Rural Health Group, a multi-location Community Health Center in northeastern North Carolina, is seeking a Bilingual Interpreter. This position will provide translation services for Spanish-only speaking patients during medical and/or dental appointments. It is based in Rural Health Group's Henderson family practice and dental clinic.

Must be bilingual and proficient in Spanish to English interpretation. Language testing will be required prior to hire.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides accurate medical and dental interpretation services for Spanish-only speaking patients
  • Provides health education and advocacy to patients and their families
  • Develops trusting and caring relationships with patients
  • Cultural mediation between communities and health and human service system
  • Informal counseling and social support
  • Providing culturally appropriate health education
  • Advocating for individual and community needs
  • Assuring people get the services they need
  • Building individual and community capacity
  • Comfortable working with Aged, Blind, Disabled, and Severely Mentally Ill populations
  • Able to motivate and empower vulnerable populations
  • Reduces barriers by improving linkages to services
  • Knowledgeable of local health and social services
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)
Requirements

  • Ability to speak fluently in Spanish
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective, professional relationships with patients, providers, coworkers, and superiors
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish; communicates effectively in a culturally sensitive way
  • Able to maintain patient respect and dignity while displaying maturity, empathy, ethics, and professionalism
  • Able to work independently; excellent teamwork skills
  • Possess knowledge of modern office equipment, Microsoft Office software programs, and ability to efficiently learn eClinicalWorks medical practice management system
  • CPR certification – training will be provided after hire if candidate is not already certified
  • Successful completion of background check (requiring social security number, date of birth, and driver's license number) and language assessment are required before an offer of employment can be made
  • All offers of employment are contingent upon passing post-offer, pre-hire drug screen
