Job Description Summary:
Baby Talk Health Educator will provide instruction and support for the Baby Talk community collaborative prenatal education statewide expansion project. Baby Talk is a free program whose goal is to empower women to advocate for themselves and their babies to improve birth outcomes and baby survival. This position will be responsible for teaching virtual Baby Talk classes, creating virtual safety demonstration recordings, responding to participant questions and concerns, assisting the Baby Talk Family Support Advocate with class management and logistics, and ensuring grant outcome requirements are met. Responsibilities of this position also include creating a positive experience for clients to encourage class attendance and proactively engaging with the client to identify barriers to program involvement. This position supports 20 hours of work per week. Reliable transportation and some evening and weekend availability are required.

Pay range for this position will be $25-$27. A cover letter and resume are required to be considered for this position.

Job Description:
Minimum Qualifications

Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with at least 2 years' experience working with community-based programs, diverse community members, health care systems, health departments, or clinics
Experience working with perinatal or infant populations
Experience with databases, email, the internet, Zoom and Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

Experience teaching in person or virtual prenatal or infant care classes
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse staff and varied community cultures in person, virtually and by phone
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to effectively organize and concurrently manage daily tasks
Ability to work within a team atmosphere
Ability to speak, read, and understand Spanish
Experience with data collection and entry
Experience working with the KanCare system and/or the uninsured population
Experience writing grant applications or completing grant reports

Essential Functions

Baby Talk Instructor - 60%

Teach virtual Baby Talk classes
Review curriculum materials
Instruct 2-hour Baby Talk classes, including demonstrations and participant engagement activities
Respond to participant questions and concerns

Program Support - 25%

Follow up on positive screenings (e.g. perinatal stress, anxiety disorders, and tobacco and substance use) and assist in the identification of local resources for participants
Facilitate class logistics for virtual classes
Schedule clients to each class in the data portal system (e.g. Microsoft Access)
Monitor client attendance to ensure completion
Provide communication to clients and those involved in classes regarding the schedule
Use the standardized reminder systems for all participants (e.g. text messages or reminder calls)
Provide consistent communication to the Baby Talk administrative team to share updates related to the program and ensure issues are addressed and progress is made
Remain up to date on community resources and services provided to facilitate meeting Baby Talk participants' needs outside of what the program provides
Promote the virtual Baby Talk program to communities outside of Sedgwick County and to other organizations

Data Collection and Entry - 5%

Assist Family Support Advocate to obtain necessary authorizations and consent from clients
Assist Family Support Advocate to collect initial, completion and birth outcomes or other required program data directly from clients
Assist the Family Support Advocate to enter data relative to the program from all sites

Administrative and Grant Support - 10%

Attend weekly CRIBS program staff meetings
Attend all KDHE required trainings, webinars, and conferences
Assist with the completion of quarterly grant update reports
Assist in the development of annual grant applications
Participate in collaborative work with other state-wide sites, including attendance at relevant conferences, training and workshops
Assemble class binders and ensure resource bins are supplied
