Reinhardt University is currently accepting applications for an Associate Director of Campus Life & Traditions.

*
*Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Dean of Students, the Associate Director of Campus Life & Traditions is a full-time, 12-month, live-on campus position responsible for the overall development, coordination, implementation, and assessment of student programming initiatives for Reinhardt University. This consists of being responsible for providing visionary leadership, strategic planning, fiscal management, and supervision of day-to-day operations for a comprehensive student programming leadership development, and large-scale campus events aimed at developing opportunities to educate, entertain, and develop students through a variety of methods. This position will collaborate closely with student leaders and colleagues in the Division of Student Affairs, and across campus.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:*

  • An earned master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Higher Education, Students Affairs, or a related field required
  • 3-5 years of experience in Student Affairs or a related field with previous experience in student activities and/or orientation
  • Preferred, prior experience in a live-in professional or paraprofessional role (Hall Director or RA)
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to relate to a diverse group of students, staff, faculty, and administrators. Excellent listening skills and the ability to directly address core and underlying issues with sensitivity and tact

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Job Functions (but not limited) to the following:
Campus Programming
Responsible for the development and management of a comprehensive program of student events including administration, evaluation/assessment, promotion/marketing, budget, risk management, facility scheduling, and other related activities. Plan, implement and manage significant portions of the overall program of student activities including off-campus excursions, late night, and weekend programming series. Large scale event planner for Reinhardt which includes, but is not limited to, Welcome Week, Homecoming/Family Weekend, Halloween, Spring Day Festival, and Diversity Programming. Marketing and promotion liaison for the Division of Student Affairs, approving all marketing items and ensure items are distributed across campus, also ensure old items are removed from campus. Using new trend marketing initiatives for all event marketing being innovative following social media trends and developing creative methods to market campus events.

Student Activity Council & Student Government Association*
Serves as the primary advisor to the Student Activities Council and secondary advisor to the Student Government Association. Assist in the selection, training, and management of the Student Activities Council members. Assist in the strategic planning and program coordination, marketing, and production of Student Activities Council related events with a focus on night and weekend activities.
New Student Orientation & Supervision
Responsible for the development and implementation of the University's Orientation & Transitions programs for all new undergraduate First Year students, Transfer students, and family members. This includes SOAR, Flight School and Eagle Bound, and so forth. Supervise and provide professional development/coaching of the Student Coordinator and Orientation Leaders. This position is responsible for the recruitment, selection, and training of the student staff mentioned above. Manage the operating budget for Orientation to include programs supporting successful transitions for students and family members. Collaboratively work with campus departments to implement a programming schedule responding to the needs and interests of new students at Reinhardt University with special emphasis on the first six weeks of the fall and spring semesters. Collaborate with First-Year Seminar, and other student services to offer programs and services to support new student success and persistence throughout the year. Continue the development and advancement of the extended Orientation program Weeks of Welcome orientation experience for all first-year incoming students and continuing students. Develop learning outcomes and assessment plans for Orientation and Transition Programming. Assess, track, and report information associated with this position. Lead the marketing initiatives for Orientation Programming in partnership with other university stakeholders.
Commuter Advocacy
Serve as an advocate for the needs and concerns of commuter students. Collaborate with institutional partners to serve as a central resource center to provide commuters with information about services that are available both on campus and in the community. Encourage commuter students to participate in high impact programs and general campus events and to become active in student organizations and campus activities.
Residence Life
Participate in on-call rotation, which includes daily, weekends, vacation breaks, and summers. Assist residence life and RAs/SRAs with campus wide programming. Maintain constant RA contact via 1:1 and regularly all-staff meetings

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:*

  • Demonstrated experience organizing and developing leaders through practical application and learning with experience supervising and mentoring staff
  • Attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a goal-oriented team are essential to the functions of this position
  • Demonstrated ability to create and cultivate a team approach to maintaining collaborative working relationships with students, faculty, staff, parents and other university constituencies
  • Demonstrated creativity, self-motivation, student-centeredness, and sensitivity to all aspects of diversity
  • Familiarity with college entertainment programming and the professional organizations such as APCA, NACA and NODA
  • Demonstrated technological knowledge and skills (e.g. data base, website development, familiarity with Facebook, Twitter, Word, and PowerPoint etc)

Work Environment/Physical Requirements of the Job:*
This position is located within a general office environment. Must be able to sit at a desk and work consistently at a computer for a minimum of 4-6 hours a day. Must be able to walk between buildings on campus and climb stairs. Position requires local travel between the campus and off-campus sites to perform required duties, attend meetings, and to fulfill other responsibilities. Ability to move from one office to another office on campus. Ability to exert up to twenty (20) pounds of force by occasionally transporting boxes, handouts, files, or other materials. Ability to receive detailed information from others through oral communication. Adequate vision, hearing and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone and in writing. Job takes place in normal environmental conditions. Position requires the ability to work flexible hours including non-standard work hours (nights and weekends).
