The primary purpose of the Associate Database Administrator position is to provide the installation, configuration, patching, and upgrading of database server software and related products. They are also responsible for the creation of databases, tables, indexes, database backups, recovery, security and monitoring.

System implementation and support
Installs, creates, monitors, tunes, and manages databases in accordance to vendor, project and institutional specifications and standards.

Troubleshooting
Troubleshoots database related issues. Applies database updates and patches as needed.

System standardization
Defines and documents standards for various database operation.

Education Required:
Bachelor's degree.

Education preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology

Certification Required:
None

Preferred Certification:
Microsoft SQL Server DBA certification

Experience Required:
Two years of experience with database installation, programming and maintenance. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis. With preferred degree, no experience required.

Preferred Experience:
Previous experience with Microsoft SQL Server Clustering. Azure, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB administration experience.
