Summary:

Tuacahn Center for the Arts is looking for an experienced lighting professional to join the Production Department, starting immediately. Tuacahn Center for the Arts produces in two theaters, the outdoor Tuacahn Amphitheater and the indoor Hafen Theater. The AME is the lead technician on all show nights during the Broadway season (June-October). This position will be responsible for helping translate the plots, plans, and paperwork from lighting designers to create fully working systems onstage. In addition to Tuacahn's regular production season, this position will also provide support for maintenance, concerts and events as directed. The AME plays a pivotal role within the electrics department at Tuacahn. This position reports to the Master Electrician (ME) and the Technical Director of Audio, Video and Lighting.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist the ME in the installation, maintenance, and load out of all lighting systems, including leading a crew as large as 8-10 technicians.
  • Daily preshow rig check
  • Act as Board programmer for technical rehearsals
  • Supervise installation and focus crews for all Tuacahn productions.
  • Maintain all Tuacahn-owned equipment and inventories, including documentation to be shared with visiting designers.
  • Assist the ME and TD with preparing and bidding rental packages.
  • Assist in preparing all show operation paperwork, including channel hookups, instrument schedules, and show operation procedures.
  • Support the scenery and property departments for any set electrics that require wiring, wireless dimming, or other forms of electricity.
  • Fill in for the ME in their absence.
  • Fill in for Board Ops and Follow Spots in their absence.
  • Liaise with design teams and stage managers, as well as Production Department staff throughout the production process.
  • Follow Tuacahn's safety protocol and policies, and ensure the same of any overhire crew.

SKILLS & BACKGROUND

  • Extensive knowledge of standard theatrical production practices.
  • Expert knowledge of theatrical lighting systems, equipment, and practices.
  • Experience with programming and operating the ETC EOS Family consoles required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working in professional non-profit or commercial theater companies.
  • Proficient with Vectorworks, Lightwright, and Office (or comparable productivity suite).
  • Capable experience in computer networking for theatrical applications.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working on ladders and in personnel or scissor lifts at heights up to 30'.
