Since the 1960’s, The GLIDE Ensemble and the Change Band have spread the spirit of unconditional love, through music, voice, rehearsal, and performance. The Ensemble shares in songs and stories of empowerment, an infectious message of diversity, acceptance and love.
The Glide Ensemble Administrative Assistant shall be responsible in the role of assisting both the Choir and Band Directors in implementing the Glide music program as it pertains to the Sunday Celebrations and all other music that is done at Glide. The job requires a capacity and patience for clear communication and a good ability in verbal & written correspondence to the choir and Glide Staff.
This person must be able to work non-traditional hours (possible nights and weekends) and be present at various events. Regular and predictable attendance is essential. (Note: Glide normal work week is from Sunday - Thursday)
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties can be assigned, and the duties and responsibilities of the job are subject to change.

  • Provide administrative support to Ensemble and Band Directors.
  • Act as first point of contact for Ensemble members with questions or concerns.
  • Compile, edit and distribute weekly announcements and song list for Celebration.
  • Maintain and update Ensemble calendar and weekly Celebration content; via email and online apps.
  • Attend and actively participate in Celebration planning meetings with the Music Director, speakers and/or ministers and Celebration Office staff.
  • Correspond with contractors to coordinate outside event logistics and requirements, then compile and distribute necessary information to Ensemble members.
  • Keep attendance records for Ensemble members.
  • Recruit and utilize volunteers for other new areas in choir as developed.
  • Assist the Ensemble Director in maintaining a healthy and happy environment for personal and professional interaction between choir members, music personnel and members of the staff and community.
  • Key representative and a main contact for Glide Memorial Church, including phone/Zoom calls, correspondence, and interfacing with production companies, venues, and other production personnel.
  • Accompany Glide Ensemble and Change Band to offsite performances.
  • Establish new business and industry contacts for Glide Memorial Church both locally and nationally.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.

Strong computer skills, including MS Office Suite and database management. Ability to recruit, mobilize, and utilize volunteers.

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, ability to multitask.
  • An excellent eye for both detail and large-picture.
  • Has the ability to work effectively across cultures. Demonstrates a commitment to learning, communicating and working respectfully with people different from themselves.
  • Commitment to the mission, values and philosophy of GLIDE.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Previous music education strongly preferred but not required.
  • Sensitivity to multicultural, multi-faith community.
  • Experience working in a community-based social service agency with people who experience chronic homelessness, severe mental illness, addiction, severe poverty, and complex trauma helpful, but not required.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills. Able to work and communicate with many diverse people (staff, performers and public) in various environments and venues under stressful conditions and timeframes.
