Hudson Guild is seeking our newest addition to the Early Childhood Education Department serving over 200 students! The Assistant Director of Early Childhood Services will lead the development of policy that will enable Hudson Guild to deliver accessible, high quality, and equitable early childhood education. We are looking for a leader who will cultivate and maintain a safe and enjoyable culture while facing post pandemic challenges.


Reporting to the Director of Early Childhood Education Services, the Assistant Director of Early Childhood Education Services is responsible for high-quality family and community engagement (FCE) programming as well as health and disability services. As the Assistant Director you will build a culture across sites that develops and maintains high-quality, safe and nurturing environments where children develop trusting and accepting relationships with adults and peers that foster growth and development.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Child Psychology or a related field; Master’s preferred
  • Knowledge of NYC Department of Education (DOE), Birth to 5, 3K and Pre-K for all and Head Start Program Performance Standards
  • Experience in program planning, administration, developing training, monitoring and evaluation
  • Experience in a community based organization

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee, monitor and evaluate the implementation of high quality FCE programming including an evidence-based parenting curriculum and setting family outcomes
  • Provide direct administrative oversight of ECE FCE and Health/Disability services
  • Recruit, supervise, manage, train and evaluate a team of staff
  • Assist in the coordination and implementation of in-service trainings, annual program calendars, program plans, policies and procedures that adhere to best practices and standards
  • Assist in management of eligibility, recruitment, enrollment, and attendance
  • Provide and supervise crisis intervention and clinical risk management
  • Ensure the maintenance of complete, current, and accurate case records including case notes, assessments, demographic data, and medical/health information including immunizations and health screenings within participant charts, as well as in a web-based participant data-management system
  • Ensure planning, coordination, tracking and monitoring of health and nutrition services
  • Ensure medical, dental, vision and hearing screenings, examinations and follow-up care as specified by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Head Start Program Performance Standards
  • Secure doctor’s notes and other medical documentation for children who have been absent with communicable diseases and notify the Health Department as required
  • Develop and manage disabilities plan, including keeping record of children with special needs, completion of IEP’s, referrals to EI and CPSE and subsequent related service provision
  • Facilitate health related workshops for parents and program staff throughout the program year in conjunction with health and nutrition consultants including the Health Advisory Committee
  • Perform routine checks of First Aid Kits, medical/dental supplies, and replenish/restock supplies as needed; ensure that all required health postings, signs/documentation, and First Aid Kits are visible in classrooms
  • Provide families with timely and appropriate referrals and subsequent follow-up for health, social services and disabilities services
  • Outreach to Local Education Agencies (LEA) and other external agencies to provide services, including speech and occupational therapy, for students
  • Perform other duties as assigned
