Job Description


RESPONSIBILITIES:

To serve as a facilitator, coordinator, data, and analysis medium for operational activities related to the administration and management of quality; provide onsite supportive assistance to Performance Improvement Committees of various departments to improve performance outcomes in support of direct patient care activities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of Quality Management (QM) is responsible for the overall management and operations of the QM Department including day-to-day administrative oversight of QM department; supervision of QM staff; awareness of regulatory changes and communicating changes to QM and other staff as needed; data collection and submission for Quality-In-Sights Hospital Incentive Program (Q-HIP), American Hospital Association (AHA), and others. Oversees abstraction, transmission, and validation of reviewed data that is reported within the hospital and to all regulatory agencies through aggregation and analysis of measurable, quantifiable data, based on established clinical criteria. Participate in the preparation of the quarterly Board Report and Hospital-wide Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (HWQAPI) meeting. Participate in survey readiness and other survey-related activities. Serve as consultant and resource to medical, clinical, and administrative staff in support of Performance Improvement (Pl) activities. Participate in the organization of departmental Pl meetings and assist departments in developing their Pl plans and Pl Projects. Performs confidential and detailed tasks and responsibilities to manage quality assurance and quality improvement measures, to assist with responses to and follow-up reporting on citations, under the supervision and direction of the Chief Quality Officer (CQO).

Administrative oversight

1. Manages the day-to-day administrative oversight of the QM department by ensuring that all issues relating to the quality of patient care activities are addressed.

2. Directs and supervises chart reviewers - conducts daily concurrent and retrospective chart abstracted reviews and enters data into regulatory databases.

3. Ensures that staff carries out assigned tasks in a timely and accordance with standards of productivity.

4. Ensures completion of performance evaluation for all QM staff.

5. Informs QM staff of regulatory changes.

6. Communicates T JC and CMS standard updates to all staff.

7. Assists with T JC and CMS survey readiness and continuous readiness.

8. Coordinates the monthly HWQAPI meetings

9. Prepares quarterly Executive Summary for the Board Report

10. Serves as Health Commerce System Coordinator to

a) Manage role assignment

b) Delete and assign passwords

c) Grant access to hospital staff

Minimum Qualifications


1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university in Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration or an approved systems-related program; and,
2. Six years of full-time, paid experience in business, government, hospital, educational institution or a non-profit organization in the development, analysis and implementation of systems and subsystems, manual and computer application, of which two years must have been in a supervisory, administrative or consultative capacity; or,
3. A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in the programs in (1); and,
4. Five years of full-time, paid experience as indicated in (2), with one year required at the supervisory, administrative or consultative level; or,
5. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
