The Assistant Director of Community Living is responsible for the growth, development and day-to-day functioning of the Community Living Department, the supervision of the staff within that department, and acting as a liaison with other program and supporting departments representing the Community Living Department.

  • Ensures all individuals served are living according to their rights and responsibilities and are free from abuse and neglect.
  • Over sees operations within all Community Living settings and ensures compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Ensures all Community Living residences are kept clean, neat and promotes a health and safe environment.
  • Responds to crisis situations and medical emergencies quickly and makes decisive decisions when needed.
  • Accessible to Direct Support Professionals and Community Living Supervisors for all emergencies 24/7.
  • Visits Community Living residence weekly to ensure continued quality of care.
  • Ensures that each individual’s healthcare needs are met. To include up-to-date with all required medical appointments, all follow-ups, referrals are completed, all appropriate documentation is obtained for each medical appointment and/or procedure.
  • Ensures all follow-up medical appointments take place in the required time following ER visits and/or hospitalizations.
  • Works with other programs to ensure there is consistency across multiple environments.
  • Assures staff members are meeting agency, state and federal regulations for required in-service training and certifications.
  • Works effectively and cooperatively with the Human Resources department to ensure agency personnel policies and procedures are followed and takes necessary disciplinary action to ensure staff members are held accountable to those policies.
  • Provides monthly supervision and annual evaluation of Community Living Supervisor’s performance.
  • Provides mentoring for staff and supervisors in all areas of serviced delivery, including but not limited to, communication, networking and supports.
  • Attend team house meetings when needed to provide support and feedback.
  • Assists with the onboarding process and training of new employees in the Community Living program.
  • Interviews and provides recommendations for the hiring of Community Living Supervisors and Direct Support Professionals.
  • Works with the Community Living Supervisors on developing approved Community Living schedules to ensure adequate supports are maintained.
  • Provides leadership in the areas of Community Living services, program development, curriculum development and training.

  • Education, Training and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services is preferred

3-5 years in Residential or Personal Support Services environment

3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role

Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word)
