JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary:

The Assistant Controller supports the Controller in managing the accounting and finance operations of the Club, and that of two related 501(c)(3) foundations. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining accounting policies, including the Club's system of internal controls. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for managing an accounting staff of two consisting of the Accounting Manager and Accounts Payable Clerk.

Primary Functions:

  • Maintains depreciation and fixed asset schedules and prepares necessary journal entries
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory licenses, contracts, and for the timely filing of all operational taxes
  • Performs bank and investment account reconciliations
  • Oversees monthly inventories
  • Prepares payroll journal entries
  • Supports Controller in maintaining and implementing internal controls
  • Assists Controller in budgeting and forecasting
  • Provides internal auditing function
  • Assists Controller in managing audit engagements with external auditor

Qualifying Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience including supervisory experience
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and NorthStar preferred
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
