The University of Minnesota, Department of Pediatrics, seeks a full-time Assistant, Associate or Professor (Tenure/Tenure Track) faculty position in the Division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Health (DOGPAH). A successful applicant will be expected to have (Associate rank) or develop (Assistant rank) an independent research program that leads to publication and/or presentation in peer-reviewed scholarly outlets and to seek extramural funding for that research. Engagement in teaching/mentoring and service to the University and professional community are also expected. Clinical service opportunities are available for interested clinicians.

DOGPAH is especially interested in candidates who contribute to the diversity and inclusive excellence of the academic community through their lived experiences, research, teaching, scholarship, and service. Specifically, we appreciate applications from talented candidates who are members of groups underrepresented in medicine, which could include race, ethnicity, and ability. The following racial/ethnic groups are underrepresented in medicine and health-related sciences nationally and/or reflect our local and regional demographic underrepresentation: African/African American/ Black, Hispanic/Latinx/Chicanx, American Indian/First Nations/Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander, Hmong, Vietnamese, and Laotian.

There are a wide range of resources for new faculty that may include programs such as tailored training, mentoring, and research funding through the Early Career Research Award (ECRA) and the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI). Salaries are based on the national Association of Administrators in Academic Pediatrics (AAAP) reported salaries; new faculty are hired at no less than 95% of the average of the past two years’ national median salary for rank and specialty.

The mission of DOGPAH states: “We are committed to achieving health, justice, and positive development for all children, youth, and families through community-centered health care, research, education, and advocacy.” Current DOGPAH faculty conduct clinical, epidemiologic, community-partnered, and translational research in a variety of disciplines relating to the health and well-being of children, adolescents, and young adults. Faculty members are highly collaborative both within and outside the University of Minnesota and seek to attract researchers interested in working with other researchers, clinicians, educators, and community partners for research and dissemination. Division faculty support their research by seeking internal and external funding, including grants and contracts from federal and state agencies, professional organizations, and private foundations and donors. Translational research that can help inform policy and practice, especially with a focus on health inequities, is particularly encouraged. DOGPAH offers multiple interdisciplinary fellowships that provide training in child and adolescent health.
