Assistant Professor/Director of Graduate Literacy
School of Education and Human Services
The Department of Teacher Education and Leadership is seeking applicants for a tenure track faculty position in the Literacy Education Program at the assistant professor level beginning in fall of 2023. The faculty member will be primarily responsible for overseeing the Graduate Literacy Education Program, teach courses within the program and support literacy instruction across teacher education programs. We seek an individual committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship and service aligned to the profession and the mission of the College.
Qualifications:

• Ph.D/Ed.D in Literacy Education or closely related field (ABD considered).
• Five years of relevant professional experience in the field of literacy is required. K-12 &/or higher education teaching experience preferred.
• Previous mentoring, administrative, and/or teacher educator experience.
• Interest and ability to teach effectively in an online environment and supervise online adjunct faculty.
• Passionate about education reform and innovative teacher preparation programs.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Highly collaborative with strong project management and team management skills.
• Awareness of and comfort with issues of diversity, specifically around race, class and gender; ability to engage in and facilitate discussion about diversity, equity and inclusion.

Benefits are available the first of the month after the full-time faculty’s date of hire and include – health, dental and vision insurance, life and long-term disability insurance, and retirement plan enrollment is available to full-time faculty with contribution from College after one year. One year waiting period may be waived provided the person was employed in higher education for at least one year full time within three years prior to hire date. College contribution would not begin until proof of prior service is received. Tuition benefits are also available for full-time faculty and their qualified dependents.
